Exactly, Piers.
This is the part that doesn’t add up.
A police investigation from nearly a decade ago into allegations from 25+ years ago was closed due to lack of evidence, and now the @BBC sacks him instantly over the exact same case?
Either new information has emerged that we don’t know about, or this looks like classic corporate panic and optics management.
The @BBCRadio2 owes the public, and @scott_mills — a proper explanation.

@christianjbdev A bad article, but it looks to me like the objection is to Gail's being a corporate chain store whose parent company invests in military technology (including Israeli security company)? Founder's origin is mentioned as a reason British Jews believe its targeting is antisemitic.

The Guardian:
Even tho a bakery which had a Jewish founder is a British business (technically, we guess), it’s clearly an act of aggression for a Jew-store to open near a salt-of-the-earth independently owned Palestinian cafe.

You'd think Iranian-Americans overwhelmingly support the war from news coverage.
In fact, they're evenly divided.
The anti-war Iranian-Americans have been deliberately erased.

In my article for @thetimes:
“False allegations destroy lives just as surely as other serious crimes. A justice system that cannot recognise that does not truly support victims — it merely selects which victims matter.”

While Keir Starmer meets with Xi Jinping, Jimmy Lai remains in prison.
Jimmy Lai is a British citizen. He is facing a possible life sentence for owning a newspaper critical of the government.
This is Jimmy Lai’s son, speaking out while his father’s freedom hangs in the balance.
The UK government says it will “never shy away” from human rights. This visit is the test.
Keir Starmer: Secure the release of Jimmy Lai and others unfairly detained in Hong Kong and China.
Human rights cannot be traded for economic gain.
