@jk_rowling @surreykiwi @tonymc39 @theglassfish13 (probably) allow her in women’s spaces, and you implied that you do this because she has female physical characteristics, but I’ve seen you refer to other trans women as “trans-identifying men”. It’s just a massive contradiction that I’m seeing here.

@jk_rowling @surreykiwi @tonymc39 @theglassfish13 Thank you for your response and for trying to help me see your point of view, and I understand your argument that somebody cannot literally change sex (while I completely disagree with your ideas about gender identity). However, you still use she/her for your friend and

No, I don't think 'all people should have the right to decide their own rights', because a pluralistic democratic society can't function that way. Which rights are trans women and 'fans of Pride' missing?

@jk_rowling @surreykiwi @tonymc39 @theglassfish13 It’s just… it feels like you’re saying that it is only acceptable for some people to be trans if they fit a certain idea of what ‘trans’ should look like. Like if someone doesn’t match your expectation of how their gender should present, then their identity is less valid.

Nothing's changed. I was being honest about how I feel about an individual trans woman I know, who was a gay man pre-transition, and who I met for the first time post-transition. Objectively speaking, she has physical characteristics that make it fairly obvious she wasn't born female, but she's a gentle, funny person I've never referred to as anything other than 'she' and 'her'. I find it perfectly easy to reconcile my fond feelings towards her, and my experience of her as someone with very female-coded energy, with a belief that she hasn't literally changed sex (and incidentally, she doesn't believe she's literally changed sex, either).

Just watched #FindingHarry - it genuinely made me tear up. I was just a kid for the first books/movies, and now I’m 32. Seeing it all come back now feels so overwhelming, in the best and strangest way. Thank you @jk_rowling - it never stopped being magic ✨
