Till I was 28 years there was no internet in Sri Lanka. Facebook came about another ten years later. Yet with no internet, no social media and with fewer phones in the country within hours we got information from any part in the country. 1/2

The fundamental right to the freedom of expression can be limited under the Sri Lankan constitution ONLY BY LAW. Law includes Emergency Regulations. Has an Emergency Regulation been issued authorising the TRC to block social media sites? A ‘request’ from MoD is not law.
