When talking about an efficient government, also talk about this.
I still haven’t received a reply from the Presidential Secretariat regarding my RTI request. Their phone line abruptly cut me off multiple times when I called to inquire about it.
The fact that it has taken nearly two months to provide details relating to the highly publicised Ditwah Fund speaks volumes about the efficiency of this Government. It is unbelievable that these figures are not readily available.
Can your office please provide me with an answer, President @anuradisanayake? If not, kindly inform me in writing and I will take it on from there.

When there is prima facie evidence, selective application of the law and external influence over justice(if any) will only continue to destroy public confidence in the system. Sri Lanka can never truly prosper if Law & Order is not applied equally and fearlessly against every individual, regardless of status, position, religion, or influence.
A robe does not make a man immune from accountability. Behind every robe is still a human being, subject to the same law as every other citizen. A religious title cannot become armour to shield wrongful acts. What is wrong remains wrong, no matter who commits it.
If we as a society fail to rise and unequivocally condemn such a barbaric and uncivilized act against a child, then we are collectively failing the very values of humanity, justice, and protection we claim to uphold.
Today it is someone else’s child. Tomorrow, it could be yours. And there may already be countless victims continuing to suffer in silence, afraid to speak because of power, fear, stigma, or influence.
The true test of a State is whether it has the courage to protect the vulnerable over the powerful. If the Government and institutions entrusted with justice cannot rise above politics, influence, and selective protection to safeguard innocent citizens from abuse and exploitation, then society itself risks descending into lawlessness, fear, and moral decay.
No religion teaches the abuse of children. No faith condones protecting perpetrators over victims.
Justice must prevail, fully, equally, and without fear or favour.

@Dr_HariniA @anuradisanayake
please answer.
Why does he get special treatment? What have you people done about the child who was raped?
What are you people going to do about the constant child abuse that happens in religious institutions?
I am asking my government what they are going to do to protect OUR children!

Why is this man more important than the child he raped???

The rupee is under tremendous pressure. And we don’t have clear answers nor plans.
Today, together with other party leaders, we met the Hon. Speaker and requested an urgent parliamentary debate on the prevailing crisis. The people deserve honesty, and immediate action before the situation gets worse.

A society reveals its moral architecture not by how loudly it worships religion, culture or “virtue,” but by how it treats the vulnerable when power is involved. There is a disturbing recurring pattern in Sri Lanka where institutions, politicians and public figures instinctively move to protect authority while degrading victims. Women become “mad,” children become “prost*tutes,” critics become traitors, and abuse itself gets reframed as a narrative inconvenience rather than a human tragedy. The moment power, politics, religion or status enters the equation, empathy collapses and language becomes a weapon used to humiliate the vulnerable instead of confronting the accused. That is not morality. That is a society training itself to emotionally side with power over vulnerability.

A major French study has linked common food preservatives to higher risks of cardiovascular disease, finding that additives such as potassium sorbate, sodium nitrite and potassium metabisulphite were associated with a 29% greater risk of high blood pressure and a 16% higher risk of heart attack and stroke. Even so‑called ‘natural’ antioxidant preservatives like citric acid and ascorbic acid raised blood pressure risk by 22% when consumed in processed foods, though researchers stressed these results do not apply to naturally occurring substances in fruits and vegetables.
