@ColgateVT Well you can't compare aang at 12 years old who isn't fully in control or even conscious enough to control his AS to aang who is a fully realized avatar making sure that he isn't taken over and trying to control himself from destroying a whole town with the AS.

@faralong_o The original show did an amazing job of making the avatar state feel like it changes everything, like it was something otherworldly. Also those moments in the show where Aang was out of control were some of the most memorable, so even from a narrative perspective it was cooler

The avatar state isn't ultra instinct from DB its just a power up. Aang in ATLA couldn't control it, he needed to be in a situation of huge rage or pressure for it to activate. Also he was fighting sand benders, zuko and fucking ozai with it. Not tagah or Vaatuu in korra's case.

That mainly because Aaron Ehasz (a.k.a. the only reason why 05 last Airbender was good) has no involvement in any Avatar projects beyond the original series, and they went in the halo route of only hiring people who hate avatar as a franchise to work on Avatar as a franchise.
