Darkness in Baidoa and a Thirsty Capital. Baidoa has endured a full day of blackout and facing an acute water shortage — a clear verdict on an administration spent seven years chasing political leverage in Mogadishu for political survival while neglecting basic services.

Bravanese community, the sea is everything. Artisanal fishing is identity & survival. To embrace changing climate while retaining heritage, we must turn seasonal catch into stable jobs and drive sustainable economic growth, modernizing local fisheries to strengthen value chains,
UNTMIS@UNTMIS_

For Somalia’s Bravanese community, artisanal fishing is a traditional occupation, and a source of sustenance, livelihoods and identity – but it's also one that increasingly requires resilience in a changing world, as fisherman Bakar Nuur Faraj explains. Watch this clip for more!

The inauguration of the GERD is a historic milestone for Ethiopia and a proud moment for its people. We commend the Ethiopian people for this remarkable achievement. Beyond boosting Ethiopia’s energy and economy, the dam offers broader benefits across the Horn of Africa.

Minister Fiqi’s reckless slander cannot erase the legacy of Prof. Jawaari, a statesman whose integrity shaped Somalia’s democratic path. My latest article, In Defence of Statesman Prof. Jawaari, sets the record straight. #Somalia #Leadership #Justice 🔗 hassanhaji.online/professor-jawa…

A Mandate Denied: How Villa Somalia Prolongs Southwest’s Suffering. The wounds inflicted upon the people of Southwest in 2018 remain unhealed. @M_Farmajo betrayed the trust of this peaceful region, and to this day, @laftagareen and his clan continue to dominate Southwest, siphoning its resources to serve their own interests. He has effectively established a personal emirate, enriching his inner circle at the expense of the public. To make matters worse, President @HassanSMohamud has added insult to injury by unilaterally extending his mandate by three years. This is unacceptable. A free and fair election must be held immediately. The era of illegitimate mandates must end.

SWS administration recent statements is reflecion of their poor understanding of democracy and governance.

⚡️BREAKING: The Democratic Party for Change (DPC), led by @farkeeti, has condemned accusations by #SouthWest State labeling it as "a rebel movement" as "unfounded and an abuse of power by illegal regime." Speaking at a press briefing in #Mogadishu on Monday, party spox MP Mohamed Abdi Hamid denounced the claims as "a mere attack on the opposition that poses a significant threat to #Somalia’s democratic future."

The Democratic Party for Change (DPC) has become the first Somali political party to officially endorse the recent statement issued by the U.S. Bureau of African Affairs regarding Somalia. The US statement arrives at a critical juncture, as Somalia’s federal and state leaders, along with both houses of parliament, have collectively failed to provide national direction, uphold accountability, or safeguard the public interest. Instead, governance has been reduced to a mechanism for elite self-enrichment, deepening public despair. The U.S. @AsstSecStateAF statement offers a rare glimmer of hope—calling for inclusive dialogue, legitimacy, and respect for constitutional order. While many in the political elite remain in denial, this stance resonates deeply with the Somali people. It is time the international community recognizes that Somalia’s corrupt leadership class has become a cancer to the nation’s future. Action must be taken to empower the public and protect the next generation from this ongoing betrayal. The DPC’s principled support of this statement marks a meaningful step in reclaiming national integrity. @US2SOMALIA @TheVillaSomalia @SomaliPM @ArlaadiMnetwork @FarkeetiMohamed @farkeeti

The National Consultative Council (NCC) of Somalia, established in 2012, faces mounting legitimacy challenges due to its tendency to bypass parliamentary structures and entangle itself in electoral disputes. Concerns Regarding NCC's Neutrality: President Hassan @HassanSMohamud alignment with select federal member state leaders raises serious concerns about the NCC’s impartiality. This approach marginalizes key regions such as #Puntland and #Jubaland, sidelining their political importance. Threats to Democratic Principles: The exclusion of pivotal political actors, including dissenting voices from #Southwest, #Galmudug, and #Hirshabelle, exacerbates tensions over the unconstitutional delay of elections. This selective engagement risks deepening divisions and undermining electoral integrity. Erosion of Public Trust: The NCC’s transformation into a party-aligned entity significantly weakens its credibility. By prioritizing political alliances over national consensus, it not only undermines public confidence in governance and state institutions but also sets the stage for instability. The exclusion of key regions and dissenting voices further deepens political fractures, making Somalia’s democratic future increasingly uncertain. Recommendations for Inclusive Governance:To restore balance and legitimacy, the NCC must uphold neutrality, strengthen parliamentary oversight, and engage marginalized regions through diplomatic dialogue. A truly representative process is essential for Somalia’s stability and democratic future.
