The Berlin Principles for Sudan: an unprecedented coalition — the African Union, the European Union, co-hosts France, Germany, United Kingdom, and the United States of America, alongside Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Sudan, Switzerland, Chad, Türkiye, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, the United Nations, Intergovernmental Authority on Development, and the League of Arab States — delivered a clear and unified message: the war in Sudan must end, now. In line with that unified message, there is strong international backing for urgent action: an immediate humanitarian truce followed by a ceasefire, full humanitarian access and funding, recognition there is no military solution, an end to all external military support, and an urgent, sustained push for a negotiated peace — through an inclusive political process, civil society-led national dialogue, and a transition to a civilian-led government. The Berlin Principles are not just words — they reflect a firm, collective commitment to end the war and support a peaceful future for Sudan.

The Governments of the United States and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are committed to advancing shared economic growth, stability, and prosperity through the U.S.-DRC Strategic Partnership Agreement. This effort supports a foundation for greater U.S. investment in the DRC, recognizing that sustained economic growth underpins long-term stability. The U.S. government is not funding paramilitary groups to guard mines.

We promote them because they are what civilized nations do.”

I was glad to join @USAmbUN in the launch of the “Trade Over Aid” initiative. At @DFCgov, we believe that nations must lead their own economic development, that mutually-beneficial private sector partnerships build durable, self-sustaining economies, and that exporting the American free-market system drives economic growth, strength, and goodwill worldwide.

The United States Mission in Nigeria yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ilorin Innovation Hub, formalizing our first public-private partnership outside the American Spaces Network.  This three-year collaboration will expand U.S. presence in Kwara State's emerging tech sector, delivering programming on AI, STEM education, and professional development. Together, we're showcasing American excellence in innovation and creating opportunities that strengthen ties between the United States and Nigeria.
