@mssocialwelfare Never give up. Take breaks & vent because no one expects positivity all the time. It only takes one person, agent, publisher & that takes time. My first book took 8 mos of pitching & I just signed a contract after almost a year of rejections after my publisher closed their doors

Ok fellow writers help me. I know you are supposed to keep this public stuff all positive, but I’m struggling. Not everyone gets to see their stories published right? So when do you give up? It’s just hard and vulnerable and I’m feeling all the feels right now.

@lapis_lazuli11 Yes to all the above lol! I just signed a 5 book deal which includes 2 previous books to be relaunched, a current completed manuscript and 2 future tbd books which are all part of a series. Definitely mention book 2 :-)

Does anyone know why Publishers Marketplace announcements often mention a 2-book deal? Does this mean the agent pitches 2 books at once? Do the two books have to be part of a series? (I am nearly done with another, slightly similar book, and we're going on sub with Book 1 soon and..... idk if I should tell my agent about the second book or not)

@sarapucciauthor Have you tried submitting a proposal directly to a publisher? After months of querying I decided to go that route because I was so discouraged and I’ve been offered a contract! 2 months feels like an eternity but it’s not that long to give up just yet ;-)

I've read many success stories about getting an agent, and I'm happy for y'all. But after two months in the trenches, I feel like I'm going nowhere and want to hear from authors who shelved projects, started new ones, and succeeded. #Amquerying

@farm2tablefab I am honestly not the *best* person to ask as non-fiction is definitely out of my wheelhouse BUT given my past internships and what I've heard from authors and some agents, when it comes to more non-fiction genres, I have heard social media/following does play a factor as 1/?
