The name "Tipu" translates to "tiger," so anyone naming their dog Tipu is not degrading the name, but rather raising the status of their dogs above their own cowardly selves.
You are a Malayali Hindu, your grudge against Tipu is personal because his father, the great Nawab Hyder Ali who crushed your kings and princes when your tried to harm Malayali Muslims, defeated your warriors and armies here and there, and occupied your lands (northern half of Kerala) by the strength of his sword.
A contemporary (1746-1803) German writer, described the event as follows:
"Their (Mapillas Muslim) treasures aroused the greed of the Nairs, and they resolved in 1765, on a specific day, to murder all the Mapillas scattered in their territory. This conspiracy was partially executed; over 6,000 Mapillas were cut down, and the remaining ones saved themselves in the Dutch fortress of Kannur. From here, they sought help from their fellow believer Hyder Ali, who had previously appointed one of their chiefs, the Ali Rajah (a Malabari Muslim lord), as his admiral to protect the coasts of Canara and Sonda against the Maratha pirates. Hyder Aly soon appeared on the coast with a numerous army, defeated all the Nair hordes who dared to halt his march, and took cruel revenge on the idolaters [Nairs]. Calicut, the capital of the Zamorin, was conquered and a war indemnity of 10,000,000 golden Mohurs, or one hundred and twenty million Rupees, was imposed upon the Zamorin... All Nairs now had to submit to the Nawab of Mysore... The Nairs reconquered Calicut and other fortresses in 1782, and since the peace treaty of Mangalore did not include any of these people, they were abandoned to the revenge of Tipu Sahib. He raged against these idolaters throughout his entire reign, had whole districts devastated by his troops, the idolaters cut down by the thousands."

Tipu proves Two Nation Theory true. Hs and Ms have an opposite understanding of Tipu. We name our dogs after him while Ms adore him. Tipu was not Anti-Imperialism. He himself was an Arch-Imperialist. He fought for his Throne, not an Independent Indian State. Tipu's Reign predated the Indian Independence Movement by generations. He was tangibly worse to his Hindu and Catholic Subjects than Foreign British Imperialists. Was he opposed to Phoren Imperialists? No. He collaborated with French Imperialists and even invited Central Asian Imperialists to invade India in the name of Religion. Did he see himself as 'Native'? Nope. These two positions are mutually incompatible. Why is this relevant? The Congress in Karnataka chooses to celebrate 'Tipu Jayanti'. This is blatant communalism. Tipu Sultan must be among the few mass-murdering maniacs to be hated by people across Religions(Hindu, Christian), Castes(Nairs, Namboodiris, Iyengars, Kodavas, Bammons) & Ethnicities(Konkani, Kodava, Malayali).
