@SuellaBraverman Suella Braverman was Home Secretary and central to Conservative Party immigration policy. This sudden outrage rings hollow—she helped design the system she now condemns. Accountability can’t be optional.

I will never ever trust the Conservative Party again. I will never forget how they failed the British people on immigration.
Chris Rose@ArchRose90

Back in 2023, @SuellaBraverman highlighted that asylum seekers pretending to be gay was "absurd and unsustainable". She was vilified, attacked by some fellow Tories (Andrew Boff heckled her), Yvette Cooper accused her of “scapegoating”. She turned out to be right, again.

@DubGAAOfficial So he “accepted some sanction” yet you call it unfair, thank a process you’ve enforced yourselves, then cry disproportion. GAA have handed out similar bans before—now it’s unjust? That’s not principle, it’s convenience.

@m4rkj Calling it “just checking a girl out” ignores facts. Donald Trump was found liable for sexual abuse in E. Jean Carroll v. Donald J. Trump. Add links to Jeffrey Epstein—this isn’t “genetics,” it’s minimising misconduct.

@JuliaHB1 @BecklesCake92 Universal provision isn’t wasteful—it’s efficient. Means-testing is costly, misses eligible kids and adds stigma. Evidence shows universal schemes boost uptake, attendance & attainment across all groups, while admin savings often offset wider eligibility.

Yes, if that apple could have been paid for by that kid's own parents which, in the majority of homes, it could be. These are not breakfast clubs for kids from means-tested low income families. A millionaire's kid gets "free" breakfast too. That's a terrible waste of taxpayers' money that could be better spent on genuinely needy children.

The breakfasts are not free. They are paid for by taxes - mostly on parents who feed their own kids. Most of these 10,000 children would have had a perfectly healthy breakfast at home without these clubs. This isn't about helping the poorest kids, it's the state taking over the basic job of parenting.
Angela Rayner@AngelaRayner

My pleasure to welcome @Keir_Starmer @AndyBurnhamGM and @bphillipsonMP to Holy Trinity primary school in Ashton this morning. 33 new free breakfast clubs will open across Greater Manchester this week, giving 10,000 more children a free, healthy start to the school day. That’s Labour on your side. 🌹

@JuliaHB1 Criticising the policy as “state parenting” ignores evidence: free school meals improve attendance, focus & outcomes. Opposing them aligns neatly with Julia Hartley-Brewer’s small-state stance, not with what works for children.

@FranMallon1 Jaysus Fran, half the reply’s to this are from Racists that don’t even live in Ireland !! Some of the others are from Irish grifters who have not worked a day in their life. Fair play for unearthing them.

@FranMallon1 Think you'll find that people actually care more about immigration and the state the island is turning into because of it even more than the price of fuel realistically. No governments are listening.

@glynn_eile85755 @FranMallon1 Green diesel already gets a big tax break. Protesting for more while others pay full price isn’t hardship — it’s entitlement, again from the Farmers.

@FranMallon1 It’s not taken over by anyone . You only have to look at the news reports . Ordinary people pushed to their limit with their dependence on fuel that is lining the government coffers because of exhorbitant taxation .

@MaryLouMcDonald This is exactly the kind of simplistic, shouty nonsense - there are already 10 groups at the table. Governing means tough, structured decisions, not megaphone politics - the reason Sinn Fein could never be trusted with power or finances

What on earth are Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael doing locking the protesters out of the talks, talks that are meant to be about addressing the fuel crisis.   They  are making an absolute shambles of things - escalating this crisis instead of doing their job. They need to lift the phone, engage with the protesters and hear what they have to say.  The priority has to be ending the protests, getting fuel prices down and doing this as quickly as possible.

@DubGAAOfficial Cooper, given his pedigree as a player, should know exactly what Dublin teams are supposed to look like:disciplined, tactically sharp & mentally relentless. This group showed none of that when it mattered.Losing is one thing;but they looked second-best in intensity & organisation

@RnnMacLochlainn Underage management isn’t about vague long-term promises—it’s about visible structure, development, and standards now. And on that front, this Dublin U20 setup looks well short. For Dublin GAA, this is more than just one bad result. It points to deeper issues in a system

Tough loss for the U20s tonight. Gave their all but came up against a very strong Westmeath team. Only surprise is that it's not a surprise I suppose. No divine right to be winning all the time and counties like Louth and Westmeath have done trojan work at underage.

@Gryffix @MarinaPurkiss @HaroldWren22 America: starts a war, demands support Europe: no America: “I can’t believe you’ve done this” Disagreement inside alliances like NATO isn’t collapse—it’s normal politics. The outrage narrative is exaggerated.

@Gryffix @MarinaPurkiss @HaroldWren22 “Betrayal” is doing a lot of emotional heavy lifting here. Reality is closer to: US launches a controversial Iran war, pressures allies to join, threatens tariffs and even Greenland disputes—Europe says “this isn’t our war.” That’s not betrayal, it’s sovereignty.

America: threatens to invade Greenland, mocks European soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, leaks intel to Putin, tarriffs Europe, starts an offensive illegal war in Iran and calls on NATO to clean up the mess Europe: no America: I can't believe you've done this
Harold__Finch@HaroldWren22

Most Europeans have no idea how absolutely furious with Europe America is. This is not just another disagreement. Betrayal is not something you just let slide. And the mouthy responses from Europeans are pouring gas on that fire. They have misjudged the situation gravely & it will have grave consequences for Europe— economically AND militarily.
