@SDV_era Coexisting with RL nature involves a lot of killings. Why should a game break the immersion of believable survival?

Not gonna bother arguing with every comment and quote. Get the sonic resonator and electric discharge biomod, and don't build your base next to predators if you don't want them harassing you. It's not hard. Learn to coexist with nature and not just kill everything

🚨do you understand what happened to Subnautica 2.. a game that was genuinely loved. Very Positive reviews. record player counts. people were excited. then they read the EULA. - you don't OWN the game, you have a LICENSE that can be revoked anytime - they collect your personal data and device information - streaming and recording require disclaimers - mods you create inside their game - they have legal claims over - VPN use is banned - disputes go to arbitration in California only - they can change ANY of these terms whenever they want without asking you people started requesting refunds not because the game is bad - but because they finally READ what they agreed to. the game industry has been doing this for years. Subnautica 2 is just the first time enough people paid attention.

Subnautica 2's Steam EULA is getting huge backlash. On first launch, players must accept a detailed End User License Agreement, and players are worried after read them >The agreement grants a license to play the game rather than transferring ownership. >It includes restrictions on streaming, screenshots, recordings, and certain types of content creation or monetization, often requiring disclaimers. >The publisher retains the right to revoke access for specified reasons. >Terms may be updated unilaterally, with users expected to review changes. >The agreement covers data collection practices involving personal and device information. >It addresses ownership of player-created content, modifications, and related materials. >Additional clauses address liability limits, dispute resolution through arbitration in California, and prohibitions on certain software tools, VPN use, and other activities. The game has achieved strong reception overall, with Very Positive Steam reviews and high concurrent player counts. Unknown Worlds Entertainment has noted that it is reviewing player feedback on the EULA. Some players have requested refunds after reading the EULA, while others just say the terms are normal with industry standards.

Subnautica 2 sold 2 million copies in 12 hours. Now the EULA is generating a major backlash. Players discovered the agreement prohibits VPN use, bans streaming without a Krafton disclaimer, blocks monetized content, allows remote access to the game without user consent, collects full name, address, phone number and gender with no anonymization guarantee, passes data to third parties, and waives class action rights in favor of California arbitration. Unknown Worlds says it is reviewing player feedback on the terms. EU players are filing consumer protection reports citing GDPR violations. Is this going to kill the game?

@MasteroftheTDS Subnautica was designed in favour of pacifist ideology from the series started , okay, got it. The point still stands. May you answer that?

@Subnautica @UnknownWorlds I have heard that players can't fight sharks in a survival game called Subnautica 2, but sharks can eat them. Looks to me like a lite version of PETA activism.

Subnautica 2 devs say "go play Sons of the Forest" if you don't like its lack of violence. The game focuses on underwater exploration, and you cannot kill most creatures. On the official Discord, one player asked why killing is impossible in SN2 as it makes no sense. Level designer Artyom O’Rielly replied, “This is not a killing game, so go play Sons of the Forest if you want to kill.” Another developer said, “The team discusses this a lot inside the studio and may let players catch small fish for food, but large creatures will stay safe so the game feels right.” This idea comes from the first Subnautica, as the team wants players to discover things, feel wonder, and live with ocean life instead of fighting it. A fan-made mod already lets players kill creatures, and the studio is reading all feedback. It plans to add better ways to scare off creatures but will not add weapons. Early access is expected to last up to 3 years.

The developers of Subnautica 2 want to keep the game non-violent like the first one. They want players to adapt and live with the ocean creatures instead of fighting or killing them with weapons. This core idea started years ago when studio founder Charlie Cleveland chose to leave guns out of the series after the Sandy Hook shooting. He wanted the game to feel like peaceful exploration of nature rather than adding more violence to the world. Even though fans from one country overwhelmingly asked for the chance to craft weapons in the sequel the team says this will be a repeated point of resistance. One developer explained "I think it's a point of resistance that we'll get repeatedly while making the game though we feel strongly about it." So players must instead use smart tools evasion and distraction to survive.

@suesskatzi Mhm.

@Variety Casting a non-conventionally attractive black actress as Helen of Troy is absolutely a deliberate social message You're not going to be able to gaslight the public into not noticing or pretending they can't see what's in plain sight Pathetic propaganda slop

@kabrutusdeid I am glad to help you. Listen carefully: A 3-hour narrative game isn’t an MMO or a live service title. Peak concurrent players only shows how many people played at the same time, not how many bought or finished it. What an absolute garbage logic you have, 🐴

Now answer me this: how does a game with a peak player count of only around 2,200 have that many reviews? And they’re that positive too? This is 100% an industry plant. One would have to be stupid to think this is legitimate.

IGN is just a joke at this point. They gave the industry plant Mixtape a 10 but Subnautica 2, the most wishlisted game on Steam, a 7. I think they're laughing and baiting us. There's no serious journalism nowadays.

@Pirat_Nation Comparing a 100h survival sandbox to a 3h interactive movie is nonsense. Singleplayer games aren’t judged by “live service retention". Different genres, different standards: a survival game can deserve a 7 while an interactive narrative can still be a 10 in its own lane.

@AI_EmeraldApple You compare the peak of a new game with 100+ hours of gameplay with an interactive movie for 3 hours, when the majority of people played through and moved on. Also what does mean "dead" for a single player movie? It is not designed to be a life service. Idiotic manipulation.

WTF is games journalism anymore? Almost 500k players within a couple of hours on launch day for Subnautica 2, and it only gets a 7/10 Meanwhile, mixtape is basically dead despite getting a 10/10. Does anyone still take IGN seriously anymore? Do they even get any traffic other than people clipping their website just to mock them? Is it because Subnautica added a white person as the character to play? That's why they are shitting on it, isn't it?

Mixtape update. I'll finish this game another time. I just can't. It's a walking simulator with no items, levels, etc. Like that crappy Gone Home game a few years back. The music is all 80s synth pop or crappy college radio shoegaze. The two female characters live in nice houses with private bathrooms and everything they could ever want and I'm supposed to feel like they're so disenfranchised by overbearing control freak parents. Gimme a fucking break. The only 2 buttons I've had to press are up and A. Even the minigames? if you can call them that are pointless. So much of the conversations are them reliving memories with shitty little press A or RT games to fill up time. It tells me all I need to know about the people that made Mixtape. A bunch of spoiled brat shitheads that don't know a fucking thing about the 90s or videogames. They lost me when the MC started harping about how motorcycles suck because they bought the privilege of being loud without earning it. Much like the characters are trying to sound rebellious and punk without any hard challenges in life whatsoever. Take that fucking college fem-lit shit somewhere else and keep it out of my video games. Also, the way its animated gave me a migraine. Should've made this an artsy film where all the liberal retards could pat themselves on the back at Cannes for capturing the essence of the entitled teenager. 🥳

@Wokenessisevil Dude, that's a single player game for 3 hours, you're showing a steam chart like that's a life service game. Most people are already through this game and playing something else. Your steam chart is only showing people on a 3 hour journey after initial sales.
