This is utter nonsense. Robin overlooks the significant losses in the petrochemical sector, NGLs and petroleum product exports, the costs of oil transportation via the East-West pipelines, the western ports, repairs to damaged facilities, the losses in the tourism sector, and the enormous expenses associated with the interceptors. Do the math, and they end up in red. They are better off than others like Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar, but that is it. Beyond the massive losses, Saudi Arabia’s strategy was straightforward: have no enemies, focus on business, and build a world-class nation. Suggesting they have little incentive to pursue peace is a Freudian slip that exposes Robin’s view of the region
