I ran for mayor on a simple promise: to deliver a government as good as its people. That means a government that actually works for our employees, too. First, and most importantly, employees are guaranteed the same or better benefits - with a seamless transition. By switching our healthcare administrator, city employees will get back hundreds or thousands of dollars more in their paycheck, while the City also spends less. It is the definition of a win-win. This is what a government that works for the people looks like. We found a way for the City to spend millions less while putting money back in employee pockets and protecting their benefits. We are asking the City Council to approve this change in healthcare administrator from Horizon to Aetna/Meritan at tomorrow’s meeting. No gimmicks. No cuts.
