This is what happened in Deir Jarir in the West Bank Jewish settlers came to steal Palestinian sheep under the protection of Israeli soldiers. After villagers in Deir Jarir, near Ramallah, stopped an earlier attempt, settlers returned with military escort. They stormed a Palestinian home, seized the sheep, tagged them, and falsely claimed they were their own. When the villagers resisted, settlers and Israeli forces opened fire. Ambulances were blocked from reaching the wounded. Two Palestinians were killed: Awda Farakhneh (53), a member of the village council, and Ahmad Abu Mukh (26). This is not a “land dispute.” It is armed theft, protected by an occupying army.
