Our evaluations show that frontier AI's cyber capabilities are advancing quickly. The length of cyber tasks frontier models can complete has been doubling every few months, and this rate has become faster over time, with recent models exceeding our previous trends. 🧵

@uhhuhhuhok @sethharpesq The complete refusal of the left to seriously engage with the reality of this technology has completely fucked our ability as a political constituency to respond to the gigantic challenges it is going to pose to our interests. Just embarrassing. Whole of left atrocious on this.

@sethharpesq This is a stupid take. “The cotton gin is just good at processing cotton” The Silicon Valley that you’re thinking of is only going to get more powerful with AI. Quite the opposite of hoisting by their own petard. It’s really up to us to challenge them Of course they don’t

@sethharpesq @uhhuhhuhok Genuinely too thick to think through the implications of us being able to reach a computer to code is. Just revelling in your own slack-jawed ignorance.

@uhhuhhuhok I don't care if AI is good at coding, that just makes it a coding tool. I hope it is and that much of Silicon Valley is hoisted by their own petard. Just don't pretend that LLMs are intelligent or conscious or have anything in common with divinely inspired human minds.

@sethharpesq @uhhuhhuhok But the question of whether it's good at coding (and other knowledge work) is directly tied to the claim that it's akin to the Industrial Revolution. In fact, the kids' booing is not incompatible with her claim. The Industrial Revolution was complicated and put many out of work.

@pchallinor Genuinely I’m trying to understand because the implication seems to be that privately ran post offices should be somehow forced to use UK govt owned software. Or even more significantly that all UK govt owned bodies shouldn’t use privately owned software. Really?

@pchallinor So, what, Post Offices should have used software made by a government owned software company (like socialised software) or…they shouldn’t use software at all? Trying to understand the thought process here in terms of the link between the two stories and what should be done.

I mean, assuming it’s actually true and real and not just a ploy to manipulate the markets. If there’s a real pause here that’s an opportunity for de-escalation.

handle of my living room door has fallen off and now I'm basically trapped in here lol, put it back in and it did nothing and eventually the other side fell out too. climbed out my window and tried to get into my hallway via the front door but it seems deadlocked from the inside

@john_dough @DavidAstinWalsh If you remove all the caveating language and ranges then it becomes wildly more dramatic and makes him sound over confident to the point of delusion. So if you’re one of these wretched accounts that’s what you do and then it sends everyone into a frenzy replying.

@john_dough @DavidAstinWalsh The actual claim is that 50% of *entry level* white collar jobs might be ‘disrupted’ within 1-5 years. Not that 50% of all white collar jobs (from intern to old pro) will definitely be eliminated in a year. Pretty big difference. Still a dramatic and world changing prediction.

Seeing what Isreal is able to get away with, horror after horror, is just going to be radicalising for some people. I just don’t see how it can’t be.
