I am having an absolute blast letting Claude Code SSH into an old Mac to build apps. For a subway time tracker, I’m using my Mac mini as a proxy server, used the existing GTFS python lib to turn it into XML, and just used NSXMLParser The hardest part is having to brush off my photoshop icon pixel fitting skills — it’s drawing the toolbar icons programmatically rn, bless its heart

This is such a nice and true take on the Neo. It reminded me of running an Ultima Online Sphere server running on a 56k dial-up connection on an old IBM hand-me-down

The MacBook Neo feels far more premium than I expected. Solid chassis, good keyboard, nice screen. And of course the Apple Store devices have some quality apps from @_chuckyc and @malinsundberg preinstalled 👀 (No Xcode to try out, sadly!)

That's true, you don't need a MacBook. You can use a Mac Mini, an iMac, a Mac Studio, or a Mac Pro 🙃

@matthewmorek Don't know what did it but I - Used a different USB drive - Re-downloaded Sequoia and created the bootable drive again - Signed out from iCloud - Reset NVRAM/PRAM

@fcbunn How did you manage to downgrade after all the fuss you described before?

MTLCompilerService goes wild in Tahoe, consistently using over 90% of my Intel MacBook's CPU. It's a nice tradeoff: my system is completely unusable, but at least the windows look shiny and transparent

I wanted to downgrade my 2020 Intel MacBook to Sequoia. I tried DFU, but it doesn’t work because DFU is only for AS. I tried a USB installer, but that didn’t work either because the T2 chip firmware can’t be rolled back. I asked Claude what I can do about it, this was the answer.

Tahoe is a bad choice for Apple’s send-off to Intel Macs. I have a 2020 MacBook Pro, which, sure, isn’t a workstation by any means, but it ran very smoothly, even for some light Xcode use. Now it’s barely usable, opening Finder is enough to bring the machine to a crawl

Are people going to start buying the MacBook Neo to run @openclaw now?

Neo having only 8GB of RAM is.... something.

This is kind of cool. I wanted to listen to my songs without leaving the terminal, so I asked Claude. 3min later, I had this. There are some small issues here and there, but it's good enough for what I wanted. No external dependencies, just a single Python script :)
