@paulofdub @mistereatgalway Agreed, this tweet does not vilify restaurants … it was a general response to the issue of calling restaurants out for ‘overcharging’. The issue begins so far above restaurant level operations in different geographies that it’s almost meaningless to compare.

@featherblade @mistereatgalway I get what you’re saying but to be fair to her, she never mentioned Ireland. For balance, my restaurant bills in Marrakesh were dearer than Dublin, in Sweden they were about the same.

Is it too difficult to understand that Ireland and Spain have very different: wages, taxation, rent, etc. What is the point of this post? To demonstrate one can eat cheaper in Spain than in Ireland? It's that obvious to anyone who has travelled there. The price of a meal in Spain has nothing to do with the price of a meal in Ireland. If you want to compare like with like, post a receipt from a country with similar wages and taxation. Otherwise, it's just nonsense. And don't forget to post how much it cost you to travel there as well 🤣

Dinner for seven, including a bottle of white wine and two beers in Nerja, Spain at a beachfront restaurant on the August Bank Holiday weekend - €87.75 😎 it was good too!

@mistereatgalway The price of food & drink in hospo is 95% dependent on government policy. If people don’t like the general pricing (as in all industries some players will seek some elevated pricing!) ask some more serious questions about what you want the trade offs to be.

@mistereatgalway vilifying Irish businesses for ‘overcharging’ when on holiday in Spain - where youth unemploy. can be >30% and many people there would jump at the opportunities presented here - is the least thoughtful of the most thoughtless click bait subjects.

Can we please stop the blame game regarding restaurants, pubs and cafés overcharging. Running a small business in Ireland is hard enough. Why do the Irish always think they're getting ripped off? Government take nearly 43% on a bottle wine. It's taxed like petrol. Wages in Ireland are twice what they are in Spain. irishtimes.com/your-money/202…

Dublin is now one of the most expensive cities in Europe to eat out in, but we strongly believe that the pleasure of a good meal in a restaurant should be accessible to everyone. Here's where to go when you're not feeling flash with cash... allthefood.ie/single-post/wh…

Guests in town from London, really anxious to show off Dublin on a Monday.Bad start as airport is challenging 😱Thankfully along comes @featherblade I’ve always liked it but the set menu at €34 is best bang for buck in Dublin. Simply superb from first morsel to last. @MattJCam

@featherblade Hi, just found a voucher from 2019 that we never got to use (covid, lockdowns, etc)! No expiry date on it. Will you guys still honour it? Can the Mrs and I make it a date? 🥩

and messages. During this period, sales people were happy to contact about options that might mean us paying for more services. As that was our only contact I reached out there to try to address the issue; no response. I guess it’s probably too much to ask

Ignored now since the start of May. The ‘help’ said we should lodge a review. I explained that this was no longer an option because it had been ‘greyed’ out on the dashboard, I assume because it was deemed dealt with. I have now had c10 I responded emails
