🔥 WARM AND DRY SPELL TO AT LAST AT LEAST ANOTHER 7 DAYS☀️ The current spell of warm, settled weather looks set to continue for at least the next 7 days, and possibly as long as 10 days, with very little rainfall expected across Ireland. 🌡️ Peak of the Heat: Wednesday to Friday The hottest period of this spell is expected from Wednesday through Friday, when temperatures will widely reach the mid to high 20s, with some inland areas potentially reaching the low 30s. 🌊 Cooler Along Northern & Northwestern Coasts From Friday through Sunday, parts of the northwest and northern coastal counties will become a little cooler as winds turn north to northwesterly. Daytime temperatures here will generally range between 18°C and 22°C, although there will still be plenty of sunshine. Elsewhere, conditions will remain very warm, with temperatures continuing in the mid-20s. 📅 Looking Ahead to Next Week This evenings ecmwf model 12z model run for next week remains mostly dry, although temperatures are expected to ease somewhat, particularly across the northwest and north, where highs will generally be in the mid to high teens. Further south and east, it will stay pleasantly warm, with temperatures mostly reaching the low to mid-20s. 🌧️ When Will the Rain Return? Based on the latest ECMWF guidance, the first meaningful chance of more widespread rain currently appears to be around Friday 24th July. However, confidence is low at this range, and it would not be surprising to see that rainfall pushed back further as newer model runs become available. 🔥 Could the Heat Last Even Longer? There is also another increasingly plausible scenario developing. Both the latest GFS model and this morning's ECMWF run suggest that high pressure could rebuild to the northwest of Ireland next week. If this happens, winds would turn east to southeast, drawing very warm continental air back across the country. Under this scenario, temperatures would once again climb into the mid to high 20s, with some of the warmest conditions across western and northwestern counties. There is a reasonable chance that this pattern could develop, potentially allowing the warm spell to continue towards the end of July. Forecast confidence: Moderate to High for the next 7 days, Lower beyond that as small changes in the position of high pressure will determine whether the heat continues or gradually eases.
