9 years ago today, this band saved my life The power of music. Wanted to share a personal story and help give light to people who are in a dark space. Back in late 2016 and early 2017 was the darkest time of my life. I was going through a bad break up (to someone I thought I loved at the time and was actually a toxic relationship), moved to a new town (away from family/friends), felt so alone and isolated and that caused severe depression. Truly the worst darkest time of my life. On the edge of defeat, I remember going on a drive on this day just to get fresh air & clear my head and I had THINFS album on, which was new at the time (another life saver) & Rollercoaster came on. That moment, something overcame me. I turned it up so loud in my car, windows down, got on a highway, and just had this on repeat for hours as I drove-wherever I wanted to drive to-and just sat there focusing on the lyrics and music. It reminded me how life can have its ups and downs. As a young adult, those lyrics gave me guidance. And I’ll tell you some truth, that song saved me. That day and moment was a 360 for me and gave me a new outlook on life. That day moving forward, I’ve never been in that dark of a headspace. And I’m glad. All because of music. Of course, I have days here and there when I’m down, but don’t we all? But generally, I’m really happy. But I stand by it-that song saved me and came on when I needed it. Life became great after that day after I gotten that clear happier head space. I met the love of my life and have a beautiful family. I’ve been lucky to see this song live a few times. When I do, I close my eyes and sing along really feeling a connection to it as I recall that dark time in my life, because of that song. Point is, this band has saved/been there for me so much over the last 26 years-through the good times and bad times. Some people think “it’s just a band.” Well, it’s more than that. It’s a band that I connect with so much via their music. A feeling no other band can give me. Their music is therapy. Those are songs that I feel are my songs because they speak to me as if they were my own. Because of one particular song, it changed my life for the better. Directed me into a happier and healthier life. Thank you @BonJovi For anyone reading this, you may think there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, but there is. You just gotta keep pushing into you find it. #BonJovi
