Our old building at 1448 St-Mathieu, Montreal. Along the inside wooden panels there are these twelve brass name plates. Anybody knows what are these names and when the building was originally built? Looks like 100 years old.

@CTVMontreal People in charge should answer why the quality of the roads are so bad instead of saying they need more money to be spent on roads. If they don’t fix the process, more money will be asked to be wasted and the people on top won’t feel anything about that either.

Should they ask the question that the brand new road starts having potholes after a year or two? What was the reason behind that and who is responsible. Fixing the potholes is one issue why do we have so many of them is another issue. Don’t tell us that we have the unique weather on this lonely planet!

#Montreal Food Tour: Day 5 The first restaurant I booked when planning my itinerary in Montreal was Leméac. After reviewing dozens of menus over the course of the last year, the unique combinations of ingredients along with glowing recommendations online and from friends shot this pick right to the top of my list. As a solo diner navigating Montreal mostly on foot, I’m dining fairly early. My 5pm seating had me in the best seat in the house, beside the window overlooking busy Rue Saint-Laurent Ouest. The restaurant was empty when I arrived but it was nearly full by the time I left two hours later. I tried not to plan my individual selections too much in advance, mainly because menus change and my taste and appetite in the moment are highly variable. That said, I knew I wanted to try the crab cake and also the house-made boudin. I opted for appetizer sizes for both so I could save room for dessert. The crab cake was incredibly delicious. Fresh lump crab seasoned with fresh herbs and coated in a crispy golden breadcrumb crust. It was plated atop a creamy and tart grebiche sauce with a fresh and fragrant mound of thinly shredded cucumbers with a lemony vinaigrette and fine herbs. Every element of the dish was executed perfectly. So delicious, my word. Yummy yum yum. It was so good, in fact, that before my second course arrived, I ordered a third course. For wine with the crab, I chose the Le Vignoble du Russieau 2021 Chardonnay which was tart and dry with a subtle peach note. A perfect counterpoint to the rich grebiche. The appetizer-size boudin arrived shortly thereafter and it was plated beautifully. The pudding was tender and delicate with an irony front note and earthy finish. The celeriac purée that accompanied offset its richness and provided additional depth to an already ultra complex dish. I ordered another glass of wine, this time an Orange from Quebec, that was simply fabulous—Le Recul, Le Raku 2024. Citrusy, floral, slightly bitter with a dry finish, it was top shelf (and incidentally paired really well with dessert). My third course was the appetizer portion of their field mushroom ravioli in an impeccable demi. The sauce was glossy and rich, the pasta had a toothsome bite, and the fungal filling was seasoned expertly—and honesty made me wish I had ordered the main and only one starter. The grilled mushrooms were tender yet firm and the char added a smokiness that balanced the freshness of the peppery arugula. One of the dishes I was most excited to try was the pain perdu, but the unexpected third course pushed me over the edge so I ordered the coffee crème caramel—which, of course, was perfection. The custard was delicate and had a deliberate dark roast coffee flavour that worked well with the thin yet luxurious caramel sauce. It was technically excellent and packed with flavour. The extra long langue de chat was a nice touch. The service was typically “bistro”—friendly and well-paced, efficient, and seamless. Perfect. Oh, Leméac. Culinary mastery in an unassuming setting. Positively to die for. Leméac: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 $$$$

Two words separate people who build things from people who just think about it. What if. "What if" keeps people stuck. "Why not" builds empires. Lew Wolff found that shift unlocked everything for him. Why not try something? Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.
