I agree Israel’s occupation of Gaza, WB is bad, and that doesn’t need to be litigated. Being from a “bad” country shouldn’t exclude you from public.

@feldspathic @daniela__127 I asked what other state is behaving like Israel. Even Russia is not with its military occupation of UKR since it has granted residents in seized territories the same political rights, such as they are, as other Russians. Let me know when West Bank residents can vote out Bibi.

@hecubian_devil I mean, this is what the authors themselves write in the book’s conclusion chapter. They understand that different problems will require different/dynamic workarounds. The book is fundamentally just about what needs to be done to create infrastructure and fund science.

@QueenMab87 The issue here is the framing that Afrikaaners/Boers are an “oppressed” class, when land ownership and wealth are still very concentrated within the white population. I’m not an economist so I can’t comment on whether them leaving/forfeiting land would help or hurt.

Letting racist white South Africans come to the US for racist reasons isn’t decolonization. It doesn’t reverse policies in South Africa & it deepens colonization in the US which is still oppressing its indigenous population

@clapifyoulikeme This will be the 27th book I’ve finished this year, and most of them are Very Normie (see below). I’ve only recently gotten into this like surreal horror stuff, and it’s a good way to break things up.
