Russia spent years building soft power in Africa through Wagner, propaganda, and cheap grain deals. Now it's sending African men to die in trenches for a war they didn't know they were signing up for. That's not a partnership. That's exploitation. And it's becoming impossible to ignore.

Here's what's changing: this is backfiring on Russia. Ukraine's Foreign Ministry says Africa is starting to view Russia differently because of the recruitment scandal — with growing understanding that Russia's military "cannot cope with Ukraine and requires additional manpower, including from the African continent."

Russia is quietly building an army on another continent. Nearly 3,000 Africans from 36 countries are currently fighting — or have fought — for Russia in Ukraine. And Moscow plans to recruit 18,500 foreign fighters total this year. Most people have no idea this is happening.

Russia has just suffered the largest oil catastrophe of the entire war. In May alone, Ukrainian special services and the “Madyar’s Birds” units destroyed or seriously damaged 11 of Russia’s largest oil refineries. An absolute record. Syzran, Moscow, Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Kirishi, Kuibyshev, Tuapse, Yaroslavl, Primorsk, and Taman — Russia’s key oil-processing giants were turning into fiery hells one after another. Now the Kremlin is facing more than just problems selling oil — it risks running out of fuel for its own army.

Russia has won the war in Ukraine. The war is now a stagnant, attritional war. Russia is the largest nation in the world, with 150M people, an improving economy, & industrial capability that for exceeds all of Europe. Ukraine cannot push back the Russians, the war is over.
