Sindarov is a fantastic player but he’s barely played a move, it’s all been prep. The one game he was out of prep he was lost… #chess

@RickDonnision @gutsy_gambit Bro got the bishop pair and sindarov pieces were undeveloped with him moving the knight and queen back and forth. Hikaru cannot find a concrete plan 😂😂😂

#2 by elo gets immediately thrown off balance the moment a move leaves the file and he tanks. I mean, even Ding had his long thinks in the WCC, but with him you were a bit more confident that he would handle the positions.

"I didn't expect Hikaru to play h4 - but I also don't understand what he was thinking... I think it's a big mistake to think 1 hour for 1 move probably" - @GMJSindarov after defeating Hikaru Nakamura in Round 5 of the Candidates! Interview: @AmrutaMokal/ ChessBase India

As much as I don't like Hikaru, you really do see a chess player realizing they might never be a world champion in this lifetime. Every round you can tell he senses that he's losing the last chance he has/d to be a classical world champion #candidates

67 minutes, 44 seconds. Hikaru's 13th move today was the second-longest move in Candidates history after Grischuk's 72 minute think in 2021. ⏰

🇺🇸 Hikaru Nakamura criticizes anti-cheating measures at the Candidates. Speaking live on Kick with Jon Ludvig Hammer and Fiona Steil-Antoni, Nakamura called the security protocols “nonsense,” arguing they’ve gone too far. Players are scanned before and after games, with strict controls and multiple checks in place. “At some point you have to ask… who are we? Mossad agents in Iran or what? We’re just chess players.” He added that he hasn’t raised it with FIDE, saying he doesn’t see the point, and believes concerns about cheating at such a tightly controlled event are being exaggerated.

@chesscom Im surprised by fabiano in this tournament. Normally he has a great prep but the past two games he was been out prepared before move 10. Is this as a result of playing too much games?

you can tell exactly how mentally stable a programmer is by how they allocate memory: java: new Object() (boring, goes to therapy) python: x = 5 (doesn't even know what memory is) rust: Box::new() (has a diagnosed anxiety disorder) C: (void*)malloc(sizeof(int) * rand()) (an absolute menace, do not leave them alone with your children)

It's undeniable that having to make a recap after every game, especially a loss is a huge disadvantage.
