@rue_du_four @KhandekarGauri I genuinely think India made the decision to play the long game - education, economics, development, women’s rights …the results have started to show up since the mid-90‘s. Pakistan now feels like they are light years behind

@mattyglesias In an alternative universe, Biden decides not to run for a 2nd term in summer 2023 and a Democratic nominee and the dems take the presidency , house and the senate in a landslide!

Throughout his life, Trump has been remarkably adept at coming back from total fiascos — Atlantic City bankruptcies, Access Hollywood, promising that Covid would vanish by April, January 6 — that ought to have led to his permanent demise as a major figure.

@rue_du_four @Israel_Iran_war True. My name is actually derived from Persian. I have a lot of friends from the Farsi community in India. What stands out with them is their interest and mastery of cultural things like languages arts etc. and yes - people from Turkey on east have long memories.

@ferozemj @Israel_Iran_war Iranians are such an educated society with thousands of yrs of civilization, so this will hurt more as they have centuries of memories. One of my closest friends when I was studying in Paris was an Iranian girl. Culturally urban Iranians are similar to north indians.

@Israel_Iran_war After the way they have treated Iranian expats, even people with jobs in Dubai should think twice. Iranians were forbidden from taking their own hard earned money stored in Dubai banks.

@ferozemj @MacaesBruno Tbh I’ve found Polanski to be a poor communicator as soon as he’s out of his comfort zone. Can’t think on his feet.

@rue_du_four Sometimes that is the best thing to do. Imagine it US had nothing in Iraq in 2003 and now with Iran in 2026. where would the US be???

@EingeLtrade @charliebilello Yep! If this war continues for another month or so, it will. I lived through the First Gulf war in India and i know the reality of living through it

@EingeLtrade @charliebilello Not sure i understand your point...are you saying countries like India, Philippines etc on the list will not hit double digit inflation if this continues? I contend that if this continues for another 2-3 months, we will see double digits

@EingeLtrade @charliebilello You may not care but India is 1/6th of World population...Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, etc...all included add up to a huge amount of humanity. And they are all suffering due to no fault of theirs

@APHClarkson Not sure that will be a huge impact...it is not a long detour to avoid Iranian airspace. And it is not like Iranian airports are transit hubs

Presumably if the Iranians asks for tolls to use the Strait of Hormuz then the Israelis get to charge tolls to anyone who wants to use Iranian airspace

@rue_du_four @mxtaverse Of course! I find it amazing that agri products from Deccan region, which were considered Poor-mans substitutes for the rich man foods like wheat/rice, are now selling at a premium because of their health benefits! India should take advantage of that!

@rue_du_four @mxtaverse I also think India should rethink Agriculture. Agri purely for internal consumption is one thing. Worldwide, there is increasing recognition of Agri products from India, which cant all be grown everywhere else. If it is export focused Agri, then that percentage staying high is ok
