Mark Zuckerberg was reportedly building a $100M Hawaii compound with a huge underground bunker 👀

it's bizarre how people describe romantic entanglements as if they are a default state. I wont talk about myself here (I could be insane), but the majority of my close mid-20s male friends have never experienced a whiff of romance, and they are all handsome & thoughtful people

I’m pushing 30. Was at the beach and some 18 year old lied and said he was 21. I told him I’m his mother. He wouldn’t go away. I told him I’m basically 30. He said age didn’t matter. He came up to me 3-4 times. And as courageous as he was, to me he was a child. A young boy just starting out. One that was offering himself up to be taken advantage of. Makes me think of all the 60+ year old men “dating” 20 year olds. Makes me think of that 65 year old who was talking to 21 year old me. How do these men do that? How do they look at a literal child and go “wow she’s mature” when i was looking at this 18 year old and thinking of how much younger he is than my younger brother. “She’s a fully grown adult.” And you’re excusing yourself to feel less guilty.

A mentally healthy man in his 30’s shouldn’t be interested in 20 year girls. I said what I said.

Same here. By way of background for those who care, I spent a lot of time last week with senior members of the Anthropic team to understand what they do to ensure Claude is good for humanity and was impressed. Everyone I met was highly competent and cared a great deal about doing the right thing. No one set off my evil detector. So long as they engage in critical self-examination, Claude will probably be good. After that, I was ok leasing Colossus 1 to Anthropic, as SpaceXAI had already moved training to Colossus 2.

Young men from ages 16-29 should be reading as much Hemmingway, Steinbeck, Fitzgerald, Kerouac, and Whitman as possible Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Shakespeare, and Dante in their 30s

which button should absolutely impartial utilitarians press in the red-blue game? i ran the numbers: the answer may surprise you. a thread:

Been trying to stay out of the Button Discourse, but- Your decision should depend on what other people actually choose, which is blue by well over 50%. Lord of the Flies is not an accurate depiction of human behavior. "Rational" ≠ "selfish." If this poll surprised you, update.
