@BuckeyeNatty It’s Tiger Woods and not really all that close in my opinion
English

@joe_sartor @frustratedbkeye @Jake_Burroughs @BuckeyeNatty Me too bro. Diebs was hot too. I believe he was the one that tied it right before Brandon Knight made the shot of his life.
English

@festose @frustratedbkeye @Jake_Burroughs @BuckeyeNatty I just wish we gave that final shot to Diebler instead of Buford.
English

@frustratedbkeye @Jake_Burroughs @BuckeyeNatty lol I’d definitely place him in the Luke Harangody tier of large unathletic white guys with punchable faces
English

@frustratedbkeye @Jake_Burroughs @BuckeyeNatty I think that was Josh Harrellson. He was one of those types of players I feel you lol. That 2010-2011 OSU team was so good. Eats me up we didn’t get one for Thad that year.
English

@festose @Jake_Burroughs @BuckeyeNatty Hated that game. If I saw their center on the street I would spit at him
English

@Blittzzing @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast What is a “Duke like standard” by your definition? Because, honestly, it’s black and white. You have either the same expectations as a blue blood program or you don’t. The expectations people are holding our program to would fall under the don’t category.
English

@festose @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast Yes everything is categorically different value, just because they don’t explain to the Tee that they want Unc standards doesn’t mean no one hasn’t implied in general Duke like standards lol
English

@Blittzzing @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast Kansas too agreed. So those expectations, which include national championships as well, are not what people are holding our program to. I think those are categorically different values. Have not anywhere seen anyone expect us to be Duke, UNC, Kansas
English

@festose @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast I implied in my last reply that it is way more than just making the tournament ofc but yes same for Kansas as well
English

@Blittzzing @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast I’d argue the standard for Duke and UNC is far more elevated than to just make the tourney every year. I think you also have to expect: competing for conference titles every year, realistically consistent 2nd weekend appearances, top 10 HS classes AND having nba lottery picks YOY
English

@festose @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast I didn’t think I came off as passive aggressive was genuinely curious but yes ofc there’s more to it than just that, they are 5 and 6 time champions but respectfully my point is their standard is to make the tournament & I think lots would agree with tha
English

@Blittzzing @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast Well 1st of all passive aggressive Twitter responses aren’t productive. It’s just sports discourse on socials. Not that serious. And 2nd of all there’s absolutely a huge difference between Duke and UNC expectations and just making the tourney every season. This needs acknowledged
English

@festose @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast I never implied u didn’t pay attention to the games lol, I’m pretty sure I have a good concept of their expectations & it definitely is. If I need to know more about their expectations feel free to let me know
English

@Jake_Burroughs @BuckeyeNatty First let me correct myself. We lost to UK in the sweet 16 in 2011. And yes you’re right gotta beat the blue bloods to be the best. We matched up with that team so well we should have won that game convincingly. Still mad
English

@festose @BuckeyeNatty Gotta beat the best to be the best but I still cannot believe the number 1 overall seed got paired in that region. Absolute gauntlet.
English

@Blittzzing @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast I’ve been watching OSU basketball for 30+ years. I’ve paid plenty attention. I just don’t think you have a good concept of “Duke and UNC” expectations. Making the tourney every year is not aligned with that concept. 2 very different things.
English

@festose @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast Not even some of the greatest coaches can reach the tournament every year so to me yes it is unrealistic. Well u haven’t been paying attention then
English

@Blittzzing @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast Those aren’t the same as Duke and UNC expectations. A program of OSU’s magnitude should expect to make the tourney every years. That’s not unrealistic. But I’ve never seen anyone say they should have the same results as basketball blue bloods
English

@festose @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast Im not going weeks back after the Iowa game & Michigan game to look for them but I’ve seen from multiple people making the tournament should be bare minimum if u coach here.. ive seen sweet 16s should be a 2-3 year occurrence and many more
English

@festose @buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast There has definitely been expectations being thrown out there like we are..
English

@BuckeyeNatty There’s absolutely no reason why couldn’t have won the tournament in 2011. One of the best OSU teams of all time. That 2nd round loss to UK still haunts me
English

@buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast It’s college basketball. There’s no continuity in rosters. There’s turnover every season. It’s not an excuse. His 24 transfer class was one of the top in the country and he still couldn’t get them to at least the tournament. And the rest of my previous argument still stands true
English

@festose @TheSG_Podcast He may have been on staff, but he didn't have to assemble a team on the fly.
English

@buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast He’s been on staff since 2019. 24-25 definitely counts lol. The system/scheme he’s implemented, especially offensively, is not by any means adequate. His teams constantly play down to really bad teams. He’s had great talent and has underachieved with it. It’s not working sorry
English

@festose @TheSG_Podcast After one year you've determined that a 39-year-old coach can't coach? Yeah. (First year doesn't really count since he had to throw everything together on the fly.) So he isn't Dusty May? Dusty May didn't want to come here.
English

@buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast I actually disagree. I think Diebler has proven that he can’t be a consistently good basketball coach. But all I wanted was to make sure we are being truthful and accurate about the history of OSU basketball. That’s all.
English

@festose @TheSG_Podcast I look at relationships and how all the dots connect. Sure, Diebler isn't proven and he didn't have the NIL budget, but he comes from a great basketball pedigree through his dad. His brother works with St. Matta. Diebler with more NIL money is going to be just fine.
English

@festose @TheSG_Podcast Okay then, usually mediocre except for that 10-year span. We have the early 1960s and the Thad Matta years. We're not UNC and Duke material. 🤣
English

@buckeye__nick @TheSG_Podcast Jim O’Brien. But even he made a final four. We had a solid decade span of being heads and shoulders the best program in the conference and one of the best programs in the country under Thad. So “always mediocre” is an unequivocally false statement
English

@TheSG_Podcast You must be too young to remember the Randy Ayers, Eldon Miller, and most of the Fred Taylor years. And then there is what's his name from Boston with his Serbian teams. Yeah, we're right up there with Duke.
English

@OSUHoopsInsider Shows how much I’ve been paying attention. I blame Chris Holtmann
