In this moment, Michael Hartmann sends me this hilarious picture of a cup showing "quantum geeks", which is actually a group picture of our team at Imperial College London back in the days. I find it genuinely interesting to see how many people are shown on the cup that are now professors or full-term researchers in the quantum industry.

We are looking for an experienced quantum scientist and coder. If you know how to (classically) simulate quantum systems, particularly cQED models, and you like building performant tools that people want to use, check out this job ad! amazon.jobs/en/jobs/299902…

@S_Flammia There are some in the intersection like Elon Musk himself

The first own paper submission feels like yesterday. On a topic I still think about. Now my publications have crossed a line of an h-index of 100. This is humbling - and interesting, since while I like to be pragmatic and contribute to solving problems to the extent possible, the publications themselves are often quite formal and somewhat tedious.

Another experiment from AWS quantum, focused on single-cat performance. We can get a cat qubit with T_x ~ 0.2s and T_z ~ 17us (choosing a mean-photon number of 4).

Another experimental paper on cat qubits from AWS! arxiv.org/abs/2409.17556 This time, we dive deeper into key technical advances that have made our cat qubits performant enough to enable repetition code error correction experiments!

New paper from the AWS Center for Quantum Computing, reporting an experimental realization of a repetition cat code with distance 3 (logical error 1.72%) and distance 5 (logical error 1.65%): arxiv.org/abs/2409.13025 /1

@marcotomamichel @DulwichQuantum It’s looking good to me so far! Very beautiful if it holds up

@DulwichQuantum Someone will need to update that I think.

@shaunmmaguire Only 300k? That doesn’t show a lot of conviction in the maga movement…
