@KrypTanko The only Jackson to have a hull mounted MG besides the modified ones the South Koreans used during the Korean War. The TD crews must have loved these since lack of MGs and armor was one of their chief complaints.

Today's "Odd Tank" is the 🇺🇸 American 'M36B1' Built in late WW2, the M36B1 was a Tank Destroyer built on the hull of a M4A3 Sherman and the turret of the M36. This combination was built when there was a shortage of M10-type hulls which traditional M36's were based on. 187 M36B1's were created and sent to Europe to fight, however they would only fight in the last year of the war in 1945. The main armament is the 90mm M3 gun.

@Lua_Luminary Being a Founder and having played since 2013, they're a big reason I don't feel a desire to play alongside how strange the lore has gotten with time.

Not a fan of protoframes, even as a one-off for 1999. That said, if they absolutely HAD to have been made, they make more sense as a one time thing. The continuous implementation of protoframes in new content is corrosive to game's tone and identity. The dating is also dreck.

Warframe 1999 should have been its own game. Not only to not give Warframes pretty human faces (imo, a mistake) but also so that DE could've fleshed out the very interesting world you get pulled into. But of course, the main concern would be that it wouldn't be profitable.

Today’s “Odd Tank is the 🇺🇸 American ‘M26 T99’ Built in 1940’s, the M26 T99 was a standard production M26 with the T99 Rocket pods. The idea behind the vehicle was similar to the Sherman-based T34 Calliope, but with the added benefit of a larger main gun and heavier armor. Only 1 example would be produced and it would not see combat. The armament would consist of a 90mm M3 rifled gun and the T99 Rocket launcher which fired 114mm M8 Rockets.

@KrypTanko If I remember correctly from The Chieftain's interview, some Abrams variants were 80+ tons with all the modules and doodads. Crazy to think with how many tanks the US has designed and prototyped, very few are heavier than the M6A2E1.

Today's "Odd Tank" is the 🇺🇸 American 'M1E3 Abrams' Revealed in January 2026, this early prototype/demonstrator of the M1E3 Abrams is built from a highly modified M1A1 Abrams turret and a custom hull. The crew has been reduced to 3 and relocated into the hull where the driver's position is located. The turret has also be fitted with a new autoloader for the gun. A big focus of the program is to drop the weight of the Abrams down to 60 tons, a huge drop considering some packages can make the tank weigh close to 80 tons currently. The M1E3 will later feature a new turret design to integrate the new systems. The main weapon remains the 120mm M256 smoothbore gun, but with the aforementioned autoloader.

Well here is the sketch of the cast hull M18. Turret is also cast and closed top. Gave it the same hatches as late war shermans.

@KrypTanko @5thFrenchEmpire I feel a 75mm armed turret would overlap too much with the sponson 75mm in terms of work space. Perhaps middle ground, 57mm with the T49 57mm GMC turret instead? The only WW2 US TD to have a fully enclosed turret.

@KrypTanko The T29 was great to see in person. A shame they didn't have the double baffle muzzle brake. At least the T28/T95 had it and was rather close.

Today's "Odd Tank" is the 🇺🇸 American 'T29' Built in the 1940's, this prototype Heavy Tank was developed when the M26 Pershing was considered not heavy enough. Another interesting note is that the very first pilot turret developed for the T29 was used on the M6A1E2. The tank would not see active service and two surviving examples can be found in the Army Armor and Cavalry Museum in the state of Georgia, US. The two examples they have are a T29 and a T29E3 with the T31E1 Stereoscopic Rangefinder mounted to the sides of the turret. The main armament of the T29 is a 105mm T5E1 L/56 gun. The heavy tank was powered by a 750hp V12 Ford GAC engine and had a top speed of 56km/h.

@KrypTanko Super Hellcat makes sense. Had it been mass produced, might have been designated the M18(90). But this vehicle was designed for a fast moving 90mm to use against Japanese bunkers. Since the US didn't invade the main islands, this project lost favor.

Today's "Odd Tank" is the 🇺🇸American 'Super Hellcat' Built in the 1940's this prototype Tank Destroyer would pair the hull of the M18 GMC with the turret of the M36 GMC. The name "Super Hellcat" seems to have an unknown origin, but is commonly used. Only one vehicle would be constructed and the project would be cancelled in 1947. Traditionally the M18 would be armed with a 76mm gun, but on the Super Hellcat, it would be armed with the 90mm M3 gun.

@joeblillib4090 They can be quite hard to tell apart from certain angles. It mainly just comes down to the arrangement of the suspension if visible.
