It would be one thing if web apps were fundamentally different than they were 10 years ago. But they’re not! Is it any surprise then that the dominant web app backend from 10 years ago is still relevant today?

Basically all the problems in web dev of the last 10 years boil down to people trying to sell a 10% better UX for 100% more complexity.

Just rented a new hobby box with an AMD EPYC 9454P (48 cores!!!) / 256GB RAM / 2TB dedicated server from Hetzner for ~$220/month (+ $80 setup fee). It was ready in just a couple of minutes. An absurd amount of performance for the money.

@dhh Linux is my preferred OS. I’m running Fedora though (and porting Omakub to it)

If more developers ran Linux on their desktop, maybe they wouldn't be so petrified of running a server by themselves. We are unlearning the basics of the Internet at an alarming rate.

@itsfoss The task manager to kill apps when bad memory manager does not garbage collect properly. But I never had to use it in Linux though
