I wish more journalists would point out that Sen. McConnell is essentially on paid sick & medical leave. The same employment protection he has spent his career blocking other Americans from having.
CSPAN@cspan

Statement From Senator Mitch McConnell WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following note to constituents regarding his hospitalization and recovery: “To my fellow Kentuckians – “When you elected me to a seventh term and made me our Commonwealth’s longest serving Senator, you did so trusting that I’d keep showing up to fight for you every day. And over the past several weeks, Elaine and I have appreciated both your well wishes and your honest questions about what was keeping me away from the Senate. “You all know how folks of my generation often hesitate to share the vulnerability that comes with growing older. Even in the public eye, I feel that same instinct – I can’t help it. “But at the same time, I’ve had more than my share of experience with physical vulnerabilities. Surviving childhood polio meant spending my entire life with mobility challenges. They haven’t exactly gotten easier to manage with age. And last month, I took a fall which landed me in the hospital. “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia. “I can assure you that I’ve been a good patient. At my age, I tend to do what my doctors tell me to do. I’ve submitted to every test they can think of to help figure out what caused this incident. And I’m continuing to do everything they ask to speed my recovery. In fact, with signs of continued progress, I’ve been able to move from hospital care to a rehabilitation center where I’ll keep regaining my strength. “As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time. And on the advice of my doctors, I won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet. But rest assured that, in the meantime, I’m not taking a break from the Senate business that matters to you. I’ve been working closely with my legislative staff on current issues, and with my Kentucky team who help me provide timely constituent services across our Commonwealth. I’ve also been keeping in touch with my Senate colleagues on the appropriations process, midterm politics, and everything in between. “You’re right to expect your representatives to work hard for you. And part of my decision to retire at the end of my term this coming January was being honest about the demands of Senate work. But I still have unfinished business to complete on your behalf, and I have every intention of finishing the job you elected me to do. “I’ll keep working hard to get back on the Senate floor as soon as possible. And I’ll keep you posted on the progress of my recovery. Until then, I’m so grateful for your prayers and well wishes.” ### From the Office of the Attending Physician: “Senator McConnell has experienced several falls throughout the year that have been attributed to his post-polio condition. He was admitted to the hospital four weeks ago after falling at home and sustaining minor injuries. “A comprehensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary team determined that he had no fractures, cardiac abnormalities, stroke, tumor, or hemorrhage. Early in his hospitalization, he developed pneumonia, which responded rapidly to antibiotic treatment. “The remainder of his hospital stay focused on physical therapy and strategies to reduce his risk of future falls. He has been medically cleared to continue fully participating in his intensive physical therapy program.”

@sapphicnightowl So I'm right. A personal attack is typically an indication that you can't argue. It's perfectly fine to be an atheist but you do have to understand how much of life has been influenced by religion good or bad. It's an emotional thing not to want to admit the good.

@evilaxel740 For one I don't think you actually give a shit about other people and just want to complain mindlessly about a topic that you know has nuance to it. And two you screaming about wanting kids to go through puberty is weirder than anything I've seen any other trans person do

@CooperZurad Everybody isn't a lazy loser in any generation, including Gen Z. But, Gen Z really is softer than any other generation. I would 10,000% agree about the dating problems Gen Z has, but the economic stuff is mostly a mirage driven by out-of-whack expectations.

Kick Your Kids Out of the House at 18 There was never a question that I would be leaving home at 18. My parents did help me with college, and I came home on the weekends a lot my freshman year, but much less so as time went on. When I got out of college, moving home wasn't an option. My parents didn't want me there, and I would have been ashamed to mooch off them. Instead, I got a crap job, got roommates, and started making it on my own while driving a barely functional car my parents got me in high school. Did I visit? Did I ask for advice? Did I get some help from my parents here and there? Absolutely. But you're not really an adult living your own life until you're out of your parents' house. "Oh, but it's tougher today...." No, it's not. Early on, my jobs sucked. I always had roommates. I had very little money. It was not fun, but I sucked it up and made it work. That doesn't make me exceptional; it just means I was doing what an adult was expected to do. One way or the other, kids shouldn't be staying with their parents through their mid-twenties. They need to get out on their own, make their own way, and forge their own identity as something other than Mama and Daddy's little boy or girl.
Complex@Complex

Nearly half of Americans under 30 are living with their parents. About 49% of U.S. adults under 30 now live with at least one parent, according to new data cited by The Wall Street Journal from the Federal Reserve. (via @WSJ )

This woman is from Cuba. She finds it hilarious that people are criticizing her telling her she voted for a dictator. “Imagine telling someone who was born in a dictatorship that Donald Trump is a dictator…If anyone was born in a dictatorship, or gone through a dictatorship, hears what you’re saying or sees what you’re saying, I guarantee they are cracking up right now. …..the privileged Americans have no idea, they’re cosplaying oppression and they don’t even know the first thing about being oppressed.” Cosplaying oppression, that is a perfect description. We hear all the time that liberals are going to move to another country because of Trump the dictator. Move and go see what it is like to be really oppressed. Your contempt for one man is blinding you. Wake up.

@Havok_x01 yeah no the wording on this kinda shit needs to be clear and concise which it never is. Just because that's how big tech corporations set it up like this does not mean it should be, if i buy something once i would like to own it forever its that simple and no its not unrealistic.

Its not a scam if you stay informed and its only a scam it seems if people's willful ignorance makes them angry later. can you think of a single online platform that grants you permanent ownership to another person's intellectual property like a movie the way people want to interpret how Playstation's Terms should work? No because its not new and that idea is unrealistic. But still people find a reason to get angry.

@apronanarchy Nice rewrite. Your original post reads: 'He was around 12ish. I kept my mouth shut many times. But the second he...' Basic English structure connects those sentences. You framed it as his behaviour to maximize the drama, and now you're backpedaling because you got called out.

I yelled at someone else’s kid at the park for the first time today. He was around 12ish. I kept my mouth shut many times. But the second he threw a bucket of water directly into my 2 year old’s face, mama bear came out.
