@ryanwhitney6 Let's be honest, his current success doesn't erase what he didn't do in Toronto.

@islanders_takes Did you even watch a single Leaf playoff game or are you still grieving over Tavres leaving?

Here's why I don't take it personally that Leafs fans are acting like absolute mutants over Marner.
The TOR organization was handed one of the most talented cores in modern NHL history and failed to put a team together around it. They scapegoated coaches, GMs, and finally their own players to hide it. They used the fan's frustrations as much as they could, often using media heads to spread talking points, in order to keep the attention anywhere but on the ownership and decision making of the franchise.
Marner became a scapegoat. Berube just became a scapegoat. Matthews is becoming a scapegoat.
This will go on and on and on.
Marner's success with the VGK has less to do with the level of competition he's facing and more to do with the fact he's got a better team, overall, around him. He doesn't have to carry so much. And that's allowing him to excel. That's not a knock on Marner. Every single star in the game does better when they can trust their teammates to actually contribute.
Every Leaf fan slurring their words and slobbering over how Marner was a pussy and a problem in TOR is doing so because they've been conditioned to be that way by an ownership group that's become absolutely elite at avoiding accountability for their boneheaded decision making with the franchise.

@MapleLeaves34 Horrible idea. He is clearly not built for hockey markets.

@ImtiazMadmood @CNToWest Great, so how do you plan on reestablishing your strategic positioning in Europe? And what are you going to do if China becomes aggressive after you lost your most powerful military alliance? What a massive strategic blunder. All because an ignorant old asshole got offended.
English

Rubio just announced the complete withdrawal of U.S. troops from Europe.
Every year, 100,000 U.S. troops and $60 billion are spent defending Europe, yet zero aid on the Hormuz issue—it's time to bring our troops home.
NATO's dissolution is a done deal

@NHLRumourReport A team should never have to convince anybody to come back, especially their captain. If he does come back, he should be stripped of his captaincy.
English

@LeafsEast Although I agree with you, I'm having a hard time finding a team with a projected 1C or a top pair dman they would be willing to trade. Misa perhaps, but it's not clear if he's a center or not.
English

I’m not worried about Auston staying in Toronto, I’m more worried about him infecting Mckenna with his mentality.
I’m on board with a rebuild but it’s terrifying thinking about Chayka trying to make those trades in a short time frame. However it’s a massive opportunity to gut out the culture problem the Leafs have.
If they can turn Matthews, Nylander and a goalie into 5 or 6 high end prospects to go with Knies, Cowan and Danford they should do it.
Return would have to include at least 1 projected top 6 center and at least 1 projected top pair D man +++

@islanders_takes "When games mattered the most." Who's the mutant?
English

@fin_target82 Marner is a PPG playoff performer, with the 4th highest PPG in playoffs All-Time for the Leafs.
He also has 31 hits in 13 Playoff Games, good for 5th highest on your roster during that time.
You're an absolute mutant for blaming him.
English

@islanders_takes @Vxril_7 You need to work on your reading comprehension before calling us mutants. "Games that mattered the most."
English

@Vxril_7 @fin_target82 He's the 4th highest PPG in the Playoffs of all Maple Leafs, All-Time. Had 31 hits, HITS, in 13 Playoff games. You are all absolute mutants and can never admit you were wrong about anyone. It's hilarious.
English

@islanders_takes Austin, Tavres, and Nylander all out performed Marner in games 4,5,6.
English

@fin_target82 Name 3 players with his postseason experience on TOR, during those runs, that produced more.

@Alex_Oloyede2 Then to compensate for their good gesture, bombed innocent Ukrainian civilians.
English

@BigHeadLeafs_ Not a single Leafs fan thought he was the ONLY problem. However, he demanded a huge paycheque which made it difficult to build around the core, and then failed to deliver in every big game. Instead of taking responsibly, he blamed the fans. That's on him, not them.
English

@OverDrive1050 It's too late to ask Austin if his head is in it. It clearly isn't. Go down there, look him in the eye and ask for a list of teams.

Ne jamais oublier que le siège de Leningrad fut un véritable génocide commis par l'armée allemande.
1 million de civils sont morts pendant le siège de Leningrad (septembre 1941 – janvier 1944), principalement de famine.

@MaiettaSports Not a single Leafs fan thinks 1st overall will solve our problems. Not one.
English

Leafs fans think the 1st pick will solve their problems:
Matthews: $13.25 mill AAV (until 2028)
Suzuki: $7.875 mill AAV (until 2030)
Nylander: $11.5 mill AAV (until 2032)
Caufield: $7.850 mill AAV (until 2031)
Knies: $7.750 mill AAV (until 2031)
Slafkovský: $7.6 mill AAV (until 2033)
Rielly: $7.5 milll AAV (until 2030)
Hutson: $8.850 mill AAV (starts next season/until 2034)
Leafs have a management problem…

@MikeGrinnell_ The least deserving team to ever win the lottery was the Oilers when they got McDavid. Nothing will ever come close to that, EVER.
