At @fintechfringe I just saw Nick Drewett from Engine by Starling Bank talking about the customer centric approach Starling takes. Nick gave examples of Starling’s customer centric approach both in terms of running the bank, and on the customer service side. On the engineering side Starling allows engineers a lot of freedom to build - provided how they build is aligned across the organisation. Often products are built internally and ready to go - but the business makes a decision when to actually release products to market at scale. This approach means rollouts can be swift when the time is right. On the customer service side, call centre queries are handled in a very different way to how many other banks do it. Over time Starling sees their Engine platform business becoming larger than their UK banking business. This was a really great presentation that clearly explained what Starling Bank does differently to other banks. #FintechFringe #LTW
