Think you know Tactical Spionage Action? Think again. The 1987 NES port of Metal Gear is a wild piece of gaming history. Here are 10 facts about Metal Gear on Nes that might surprise you: 1-The Cover Art "Identity Theft": Take a close look at the box art. The character is a direct trace of Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) from the 1984 film The Terminator. 2-The Missing Genius: Series creator Hideo Kojima had zero involvement in this version. He famously distanced himself from it, even calling the port "Garbage" and "abominable." 3-Lost in Translation: This version was developed by a separate team at Konami’s Ultra Games division without Kojima’s oversight, leading to massive gameplay changes. 4-Where’s the Metal Gear?: In a game called Metal Gear, you never actually fight the walking tank. Instead, the final boss is a stationary Supercomputer. 5-The Box Art Illustrator: The iconic (and controversial) cover was illustrated by Casper Revere, who handled many of Konami’s high-energy covers in the 80s. 6-The Practical Habit: Unlike many Nintendo games of the era, the Cigarettes remained US version of the game. They aren't just for show; equipping them reveals hidden infrared laser traps. 7-"I Feel Asleep!!": The game is legendary for its "Engrish" translation, featuring the famous line from a guard who clearly didn't have his morning coffee. 8-The Jungle Drop: The NES version famously begins with Snake parachuting into a jungle with three other soldiers—a sequence that never existed in the MSX original. 9-Map Malfunctions: Because the level design was altered from the original hardware, the NES version contains several "dead-end" screens that can soft-lock progress. 10-A Massive Hit: Despite the changes, the NES version sold over a million copies in the US, effectively cementing Metal Gear's legacy in the West. What are your memories of Metal Gear? Is this where you first experienced the series?

Strength is relative. I know college wrestlers who compete at 125 who can’t bench that. But they can kick our asses. Setting arbitrary numbers for strength is useless. What we should be doing is encouraging people to be active and do training that they enjoy. Side note: you never see elite olympians like Phil or Jay saying shit like this.

The organizer of the Muslim-only waterpark event agreed to do an interview with me. After it ended, she sent us a homemade cease-and-desist letter. She did not want this to go to air. You’ll understand why when you watch. 👇🏼

NEW: The F-14 Tomcat may fly again over the United States for the first time in nearly 20 years. The Senate has unanimously passed the "Maverick Act," which would transfer 3 retired F-14Ds from an Arizona boneyard to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center museum in Huntsville, Alabama. The Navy would reportedly supply enough spare parts to get one of them airborne again. The bill was introduced by former Navy SEAL Sen. Tim Sheehy, and is being championed by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman. It now heads to the House for final passage, possibly in time for America’s 250th birthday. The last Navy F-14 was retired in September 2006. Video: @aaronrheins
