🔥 #PiNetwork: THE IMPORTANCE OF ACTIVATING RPC FROM PI NODES BEFORE MAINNET RPC LAUNCH.🏁🚀 Cc: @PiCoreTeam @nkokkalis @Chengdiao After Pi Network activated community nodes on the Mainnet and launched the RPC Testnet, the community is preparing for the official launch of PiRPC (RPC operated by community nodes). This is a crucial step in making the network more decentralized, robust, and accessible. What is RPC and why is it necessary? RPC (Remote Procedure Call) is an interface that allows applications and developers to connect directly to the Pi blockchain to read data (read-only, free) or perform transactions that change state (requires gas fees - from Smartcontracts similar to other blockchains). The official RPC from the Pi Testnet has been released, supporting the efficient development and testing of smart contracts. Advantages of community-created PiRPC on Mainnet: Increased decentralization and reliability: Instead of relying entirely on Pi's official RPC, hundreds of thousands of community nodes will provide multiple different RPC endpoints. This reduces network congestion, increases query speed, and improves fault tolerance. Strong RPC support for dApps and smart contracts: Developers can build applications with real-time data and easily test contracts without incurring costs for read-only (free) commands. Community-based PiRPC will foster a more diverse dApp ecosystem. Conversely, writing to the chain incurs gas fees. Opportunities for node operators: Node operators can set up their own RPCs (internal or public), contributing to network security, receiving rewards, and participating deeply in the ecosystem. Increased accessibility and the Mainnet will have more community-generated RPC endpoints, enabling faster global user connections, especially as the number of active nodes increases (Pi currently has over 421,000 active nodes). Enabling RPC from community Pi nodes is key to the Pi Network's transition from testing to a true Mainnet, delivering a truly decentralized system, supporting large-scale application development, and empowering the Pioneer community.
