To say Gene Wolfe changed my life is not hyperbole. He was my favorite author ever, and he unintentionally ruined ever other author for me. What a loss.

I've just heard that Gene Wolfe has died. Hand down the author whose work I loved most, and that I re-read most, and whose style, though I never approached it, inspired me above all others. A great light of literature.
