@1davidj the fighting game requires split second decision making, im glad this is the conclusion we’re coming to

@fish_ahi Effortlessly+consistently implementing WDs into your split-second decision tree mid-match is a large barrier to entry. I think it has tons of gameplay value to be worth keeping (in hypoth. world with melee patches), but we should be cognizant of tradeoff being made to keep it

@1davidj do you think wavedashing is hard? do you think it is a genuinely unreasonable barrier of entry?

@fish_ahi I’ve seen firsthand the difference between more and less approachable mechanics. Game communities often make alt categories that ban certain glitches, usually in large part due to their difficulty (unapproachability)! It’s a rly important topic to me

@fish_ahi 0 intention of good faith, or 400 SAT score? The discussion isnt about cheating,it’s whether emergent mechs make for good or approachable play. For WD,it makes game less approachable,but it does improve gameplay. What about wobbling? I’d say it makes play worse+less approachable

Handoffs are NOT the same as Wobbling. There a degree of skill and knowledge needed to perform them correctly on every character. Just don’t get grabbed lil bro.

If you haven't been to a Melee Local in the past year , your opinion is worthless to me. controllers, timeout rules, "melee is dying", "Slippi ruining the game" Don't bother speaking unless you participate in the actual scene.
