About half of Florida is “middle class.” Same as the rest of the U.S. But here’s what nobody tells you: Florida’s middle class earns LESS and pays MORE. Lower incomes. Higher housing costs. Exploding insurance. Rising HOA + maintenance. So yeah… on paper it looks the same. In reality? Florida has a fragile middle class that breaks the second rates move. This isn’t a housing shortage story. It’s a purchasing power collapse.

Those services can be offset by keeping the millage rates the same on non primary homes and vacation homes. Then you only have to make up a percentage of those taxes. Only primary or homesteaded properties would be exempt....(and in my opinion only after 10 years of residence and contributing to the system). Other services should be cut and privatized the government has over reached into many areas it doesnt belong. Hugh Savings. Clean the fraud/abuse and we will have made up the biggest percentage of those lost revenues.

@fishfinaddical How will you fund services like police, firemen, local road maintenance if you transfer the entire cost to a smaller pool of people? (I don’t live in FL so trying to understand how it would work.). Wouldn’t that make it unaffordable for them to come to FL?
