Haven’t tweeted much lately. Here’s the update. Business numbers are getting bigger. I’m getting leaner. Child is getting bigger. Garage is getting smaller. That about sums it up. ✌️

Being unc in business is great You get to show up, hang with the kids and learn some cool shit, teach them some important lessons and then bounce back to your own ecosystem Let me explain… Most “DTC” people are 30+ Most of these people have kids, are distracted with daily life and don’t have that grind energy anymore Most people around 30-35 start get complacent and comfortable, this is why they slowly fade (along with their business) This is why you must become unc Use all of your lessons and previous failures to run and operate a good business Also spend time connecting with the kids who are making waves and brain drain the fuck out them on new ways of business…and in exchange for this you teach them your valuable lessons Hire the best tax firm, have world class attorneys, focus on leverage, secure IP early, fire employees fast that suck, focus on building cashflow and have clean books…you know the basics of running a good company This is the way

2025 was a year for the record books. Between all of my companies, we cracked $100M in revenue in 2025. It’s insane to think that building a 9-figure portfolio was just a dream of mine a few years back. Also pretty rad to think we did it without any outside funding. Now for the breakdown… Homestead continues to become a powerhouse growth and retention marketing agency. We had our best year ever and now have the best team we’ve ever had! I am very grateful for my brother @_RileyTrotter for leading this beast of an agency, watching him grow as a leader and world class marketer is extremely inspiring! Not to mention all of the incredible leadership and dedication coming from @kellybird__ and @jsappington! I am very grateful to the entire 80+ person team at Homestead. Hollow had a huge year…we grew by 125% YoY and sold over 2,000,000 pairs of socks this year. Though the numbers are exciting, there were still some pretty monumental moments and learning opportunities for our team. That said, 2026 is looking incredibly bright and I’m extremely optimistic about the future of the brand. I was also able to find and hire an incredible GM who will lead us to 9-figures! I ended up shutting down Public Supply Notebooks, this was the first brand I acquired. Great products but our growth trajectory and lack of focus didn’t make sense to continue on. We had a decent failure with a sleep accessory brand that we launched back in 2024. We never cracked product/offer combination and it became a distraction later in the year. We still hit 7 figures this year but we’ll likely sell this brand in Q1 2026. Also, in 2024 we launched a new brand under the portfolio, and over the last year it’s been scaling at full throttle. I’m keeping it under wraps for now, but the momentum is mind-blowing. This is the main reason that I’m stepping aside from leading the daily operations at Hollow. I’ve never owned a brand with this kind of potential. Huge appreciation to my business partner for bringing me aboard this mission and allowing me to lead our growth engine. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without my core team on the brand side. I work with some of the smartest, hardest working and kindest people I’ve ever met. I’m excited to see them continue to flourish in 2026 and I’m eager to help them accomplish more of their financial goals. Very grateful and it’s an absolute pleasure to work with all of you @MaxorrLloyd @weidermary @jacobka1997 @itschadross @brennanzee! I’m missing a ton our now 50+ person brand team but just know I’m grateful to each of you and stoked to keep building with all of you! So what’s in store for 2026? Well, we’re forecasting $250M+ across the companies…mind-blowing to even write that number out. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to lead these companies and special group of people. Here’s to a healthy and exciting future ahead 💌🧦🚀

I started my first eCom brand when I was 19. It was called PIF. It was essentially toms shoes, but for apparel. For every unit I sold, I would donate the same but in a kids size to a boys and girls club near the customer. My Mom pulled out this note today that I wrote her and my dad. I borrowed $3,000 from them to start PIF. This was a lot of money to them (I grew up lower-middle class in the midwest). This business led to me landing a full-time gig at a marketing agency when I was 20 and allowed me to drop out of college. My goal since the day I wrote this note, was to repay them 1000x. Seeing this made me super emotional…but was a huge reminder of why I’m grinding so hard…to support and take care of family. Yes the new vehicles, the new home, the bigger warehouse…all rad and fun part of the journey. But this is my true WHY.

We've been running a beta test with @PostscriptIO's new AI Shopping Assistant for the last month and the results are pretty wild. Think of it as AI that takes over conversations from responses to your SMS campaigns/flows to help nurture prospects to purchase. They're announcing the roll out of Shopper today at 11am CST 👉postscript.io/launch-spring25 **I'm an advisor at PS and on their customer advisory board. That said, they didn't ask me to post this. I'm just a big fan of making other brands easy money.

@zachmstuck Great post. Well said. That ignorance in the beginning is somewhat necessary to be brave/dumb enough to start things.

Sometimes you have to look at your past self and just laugh. A few years ago (early days of Homestead) I was pretty certain that I knew eCom better than 99% of people in the space. Not true. Not in the slightest. I barely knew how to read financial statements. I didn’t understand the depths of direct response ads and copywriting. I didn’t know how to navigate leading a team of A players and certainly didn’t know how to retain them versus losing them to other opportunities. In short, I didn’t know a lot of things and had no clue what I was doing. Today, sure I know a bit more, but still have a long way to go. There is still plenty of terminology that gets thrown out on calls with bankers/manufacturers/consultants where I nod and pretend that I know what they’re talking about…but am desperately googling terms in the background to figure it out what they’re saying. The fun part of business is that you can find success at all stages of the journey. You don’t have to be a genius to make your first $100k or even your first million, but if you want that number to go up, the work ahead gets a lot harder. To summarize, be kind to yourself. You don’t have to have it all figured out today. Just continue to put your head down and chip away. If you do this, every few years you’ll be able to look back on your past self (like I am today) and say “wow, I was dumb back then.”

How to massively cut shipping costs... 1. None of the big shipping companies will negotiate in good faith unless you turn off the faucet. There is NO RELATIONSHIP WITH BIG CORPS. They churn employees and they do not give a fk about you or your account. I don't care how many donuts they drop off or how many credits they give you. I've literally NEVER seen FedEx or UPS reward a customer's loyalty. It's not a thing. Don't be a cuck and say dumb things like "lol but bro my FEDEX man LOVES me, he would never fk me on rates!" 2. Turning off spend means you need a handful of viable alternatives before you start negotiating. At Karta, we use ShipHaven, which is a grey hat service essentially reselling shipping. We pair that with smaller alternative carriers like Lasership and this allows us to turn off FedEx/UPS without losing money. 3. Next, we contact our lovely carrier and let them know that we are no longer shipping with them because we are receiving substantially cheaper rates, and we need an immediate improvement. 4. Suddenly, they'll be far more negotiable. This is because of how their internal SOPs work. Enjoy the shipping savings and send me a gift.
