Temporary means temporary.
Pretending it's not is not fair to anyone, including newcomers.
But that's exactly what the Liberals are doing.

Thousands of temporary residents are being squeezed out by Canada’s shifting immigration reality. Here's what the country could lose trib.al/nAeOLrx

The headline makes it seem like 1/3 of foreign students on expired visas who are already here are leaving.
But the Libs have no plan to get them to leave, and no way to track if they do.
The headline below = hundreds of thousands of NEW foreign students are still coming in.

Ontario to lose more than a third of international students: StatCan cp24.com/local/toronto/…

PM @MarkJCarney has my utmost respect because he stands for competence and wants to build our nation stronger and more resilient in these volatile times. In that vein, my sincerely humble question is; why does Minister Lina Diab still continue to be our immigration minister?

@graciemacdonal9 It’s their management’s responsibility to figure out how to increase revenue to a) offset declining letter mail revenue b) become competitive with private sector on parcel delivery c) price appropriately for last mile rural delivery d) right size the workforce

@graciemacdonal9 Once again, Avi Lewis’s idea that a Crown Corp that’s meant to make money should be allowed to operate at a loss because market conditions have changed is patently stupid. Market disruptions mean businesses should adapt to stay profitable. The government isn’t a charity. 1/2
English

Sigh. This is a ridiculous argument that makes Avi look stupid. Canada Post is in the market as a commercial entity. It’s a crown corporation and is mandated to be financially self-sustaining, relying on revenue from products and services rather than taxpayer funding.

Avi Lewis: "We have shoved Canada Post so far into the market mindset that every few months we have a national conversation about why isn't Canada Post making money. Does the ambulance service make money? Do the police services make money? We're talking about a fundamental public service."
English

@graciemacdonal9 And this is the first page of their 2025 Annual Report - Statement by Canada Post’s president confirming the same.

English

@graciemacdonal9 Because they say so themselves (see: their responsibilities on their website). Financial self-sustenance dictates that a) revenues generated from operations must be equal to or exceed costs and b) revenues most grow at a rate that is equal to or greater than inflation. Bye now.

@TalkinBaseball_ Good. Let's hope he has a LONG IL stint

@graciemacdonal9 So in summary:
1. LCBO - provides a service by charging customers, makes money
2. Royal Canadian Min - provides a service by charging customers, makes money
3. Canada Post - provides a service by charging customers, loses money
Canada Post is mismanaged and needs improvement
English

@graciemacdonal9 Coming to CATSA, this crown corp is primarily taxpayer funded (via parliamentary appropriations) therefore its operating model is not for profit. So false equivalency comparing it to Canada Post that’s for-profit by design.
English

@graciemacdonal9 Other examples include CPPIB and the Royal Canadian Mint
English

@graciemacdonal9 Your question did not have the word federal before. Classic goalpost shift. Can’t take you seriously anymore. But just to answer the question - Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)
English

@graciemacdonal9 Your point? LCBO is a crown corp. you wanted the name of a crown corp that doesn’t take government subsidies. LCBO doesn’t. Moving the goalpost after losing an argument, are you? Must be an NDP supporter
