I installed a box high up on a pole somewhere in the Mission. Inside is a crappy Android phone, set to Shazam constantly, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's solar powered, and the mic is pointed down at the street below walzr.com/bop-spotter

What an amazing week seeing the response to my new work from far and wide. But it was special in another way. By coincidence, Ladytron played New York City the night before my own art show. Watching the band I was in for 20 years as a member of the audience for the first time was a poignant moment, and I felt I was with my friends onstage as they played to a full house. The synchronicity of my past and future present self coexisting in New York City in 2023 made me think of the poetic beauty of life and the possibility of something more than pure coincidence, and I leave with a feeling of immense fulfilment, peace and gratitude. 📷: @austinmann & @pc
