Gal Luft, not only was indicted for working for the Chinese, essentially as a Chinese Spy, trying to recruit and pay a Trump advisor to publicly support pro-Chinese policies, but he was also indicted for negotiating illicit arms deals between the Chinese and Iranians. Republicans claimed he was a whistleblower who was going to release details of Joe Biden's corruption with China -- the very country for whom he was allegedly working with to better China's own interests. Just like the Burisma/Shokin story, this is another story that fizzles out once you get all of the details. The idea isn't to put legitimate stories out there. The idea is to create a narrative by putting out multiple stories that follow in the same narrative, knowing they will likely eventually fizzle out. It doesn't matter though, because Republicans know that most people don't have the attention spans to follow the stories until it fizzles out. Many people believe what they hear first, and don't pay attention to the entire conclusion that is found months or years later.

Arraignment Day for Trump is a reminder that no one is above the rule of law. This includes former Presidents. I know that a lot of people on the right believe that this is “unfair,” or “selective prosecution,” or “political bias.” That’s simply not true. If the evidence is there to likely get a conviction, then a prosecution should be made no matter who it is. Yes, Hillary could have been prosecuted under the law, but every prosecutors needs to make a decision of whether or not that prosecution will result in a conviction. Hillary’s case was flimsy. Intent wasn’t there, disloyalty wasn’t there, there was no good evidence of obstruction, and arguably gross negligences wasn’t there. In Trumps case, according to the indictment, intent was there, gross negligence was there, and a lot of obstruction was there. Evidence of violations of the Espionage Act were there. If Trump were to be let off, without facing consequences, the precedent it would set would have been extremely dangerous to the future of this country. Trump deserves a fair trial, and everything we see indicates he will receive one. The indictment is extremely damming, but he has every right to put up his defense, and let the cards fall where they may. If he’s innocent, then great! If he’s guilty, then let’s move on.
