Today, 37 years ago. 4 April 1989
The last South African soldier killed in action during the Bush War.
FOR HIM THE LAST POST HAS SOUNDED
We stand to attention and salute 85212843PE Corporal Hermann Carstens from 1 Reconnaissance Regiment who was Killed in Action on 04 April 1989 during fierce close-quarter fighting with a numerically superior force of heavily armed SWAPO/PLAN insurgents near Eenhana during Ops Merlyn. He was 20. He was the last member of Special Forces to die during the Bush War.
His name and sacrifice has not been forgotten

@15TeeJay Do you remember Smuts Ngonyama’s famous quote:
“I DID NOT JOIN THE STRUGGLE TO BE POOR”..
And so it continues…..

@GarethCliff Exactly where are the Taxpayers funds applied?
Nobody in their sane minds can perceive any improvement in any infrastructural developments.
Everything is going downhill at a rate of knots.
The current Government will have to spent trillions of Rands more on fixing damages!

@GarethCliff @firepower66 Record amount tax collected, yet what can we show for it? Roads, bridges, water and electricity infrastructure, dam walls and hospitals not maintained! Yet corruption is rampant and also at record highs! South Africans paying more tax so ANC politicians can loot more!🤬🤬🤬

Happy to share some new footage from @KariegaGameRes of Thandi with calf no. 6 🙏
Both are doing well with the little one gaining in confidence and Thandi taking it all in her stride.

@SANRALZA This R36 stretch between Lydenburg and N4 Schoemanskloof is an absolute disgrace - a flooded, eroded death trap that’s been handed over to you for months and still looks like a riverbed! Trucks are crawling through mud that shouldn’t exist on a proclaimed national route. Lives are at risk daily while you “plan” repairs. South Africans are fed up. Fix it NOW or explain why you took it over if you can’t maintain it!

Harlequins is the 3rd oldest rugby club in SA. Town Council gave our club 28 days to restore it to farm land again - like it was before 1902 - because it is zoned for agriculture. No political party has taken responsibility yet . artikels.afriforum.co.za/en/afriforum-r…

@Yandisa87376189 @eNCA Creating more jobs with all these commissions, a sly way to say "I care about my people"
English

@eNCA Does he not have economic advisors, who should have looked at this when the war started 🤔. This "task team" will result in a delayed government response. Be proactive people please

President Cyril Ramaphosa has set up a task team to look at mitigating the impact of rising oil prices. It's made up of Ministers of Finance, International Relations and Trade and Industry. enca.com/news-top-stori…

Hello Mayor Morero @CityofJoburgZA and @MyJRA - this hole is still opened near Colony Centre. A car literally flew into it. Thank God the driver wasn’t hurt and the car’s removed but the hole is still there. @helenzille in case you need another dip.

Most working class South Africans rely on the taxi industry for transport, so they will bear the brunt of the fuel increase.
Aside from explaining why people still need to board two or three taxis to reach city centres, the ANC must also account for the decay of the country's rail network.
Why has it allowed trains, which are a cheaper and more reliable mode of transport, to be ravaged?

From ending e-tolls to stopping a R200bn energy deal. OUTA has delivered real accountability.
Our CEO, Mr @wayneduv , spoke to MyBroadband on how we’re turning our focus to Eskom’s solar registration requirements.
If these rules are unfair, they must be challenged.

@MbalulaFikile Thanks to the citizens of this country for speaking up. Namibia already decided this pre your pronouncement

We welcome the ANC led governments intervention with regards to the rising fuel costs because of the war in the Middle East. By cutting the fuel levy by R3 it will buffer the citizens from rising fuel and food prices. This is what a government that cares and is responsive to the needs of the people does. We welcome this swift response.
