I'm at the eating a pint and a half of pickles every two days stage of book-writing, apparently.

The Olympics just succumbed to a ridiculous gender panic. Here’s who it’s really going to hurt. slate.trib.al/5xP1vEj

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender And your comments about an incompatibility between human rights and acknowledging the existence of an objective external reality are just mistaken. You can’t effectively promote human rights and social welfare without a reasonably accurate understanding of material reality.

@CuckFapitalismo @metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender I don’t hate that person, but I certainly do think their cause is harmful and want it to fail - and at the same time, it’s obvious that publicly advocating for surgical “gender transition” on minors is bad for that cause. All of those are true. So?

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender Human rights depend on a realistic understanding of reality. You cannot build an effective human-rights framework on lies and delusions.

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender It’s fascinating how when you are stuck defending the indefensible, you quietly stop mentioning castration and pretend the question is about whether people “exist”. The question isn’t “existence” it’s whether to cut off children’s body parts for the sake of an ideology.

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender Of course kids exist who think they are “trans” in the same way that people exist who think they are “born again in Christ”. Neither is compatible with materialist reality but both still have their basic human rights. Which for kids means - don’t castrate them.

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender Again, there are limits to children’s bodily autonomy and that is a *good principle* because it protects them from various harms like … adults castrating them in the name of a sick ideology.

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender I referred to people as “freaks and weirdos” because of the position they advocated (harming children). You don’t care about the ethics of the position, only about who’s advocating for or against it. And you have the gall to claim *I* am unprincipled. Oh the irony.

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender The people advocating for literally *castrating minor boys* are on what you assume is the “good people” side, so *castrating under-18 boys* must now be a good thing.

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender And yes it’s decidedly creepy that your movement is so eager to promote “autonomy” for children, which all too often seems to end up as them being sexually abused, given your movement’s disdain for safeguarding.

@metafizzdrinks @HJoyceGender We limit kids’ “autonomy” so they don’t make bad decisions that they will later regret, given their understanding of the world and their selves is still developing. This *principle* is foundational to children’s human rights.
