$NIO $11k for a NIO brand car with swapable batteries. Now this is competitive.

After spending three days in Oslo, here’s what I found: around 60% of newly purchased taxi vehicles are $NIO. When bought specifically for taxi use, they come with a better warranty of 300,000 km and a set number of battery swaps. These swaps are especially useful when multiple drivers share the same car. Many drivers are opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, as buying the car with the battery included is prohibitively expensive. Even with BaaS, the NIO EL6 is still more expensive than a Tesla Model Y. This higher price point is one of the main reasons for NIO’s weaker sales performance.

In my opinion @NIOGlobal should shut down all of their Europe direct sales and NIO houses. It doesn’t make sense to burn so much money. They should go with dealerships. The sales can’t justify to the high overhead. On the bright side the Firefly looks so much better in person, hopefully it sells well

I was able to catch two NIOs in the same picture again. This being said I am convinced @NIOGlobal should wrap up their European expansion and stop burning cash. Mostly fleet sales to cab companies. I spend two hours driving around the fancy Oslo neighborhoods and didn’t see one NIO parked on the street. Tons of teslas, Mercedes and Porsche but not NIOs. Norway is their top European market.

@NIOSwitzerland @WiddlM3 I haven’t but it’s on the list of things to do. Just finish talking to the management in the NIO house. As expected poor sales, bunch of cars in stock. They will start a promotion next month and hope to sell more. They will start delivering the Firefly in August.

@SawyerMerritt It’s a scam , i paid 47$k cash for 16kw system that barely produces anything and Tesla doesn’t even want to service it. According to them everything is perfect.

Tesla solar panels, Powerwall 3, wall charger and Model 3 Performance.

@dirtygreenpaper @jimfarley98 I have the extended version, and with a warmer weather i was able to complete 200 mile trip with 18% range left. Still terrible range on a 320 miles rated truck.
