I’ve argued for years that several manufacturers would solve for unsupervised autonomy at around the same time as $TSLA. $NVDA ‘s Alpamayo AI technology, which uses vision plus radar, allows manufacturers such as Mercedes and $LCID to customize how much autonomy they want in their cars (L2+, L3, L4) and will be available in Mercedes cars in 1Q 2026 - which validates that premise. The NVDA generalized approach builds in sensor redundancy and is superior to Waymo as it can be scaled nationally and even globally, while being customized by NVDA’s customers. The incremental cost to manufacturers has not yet been determined but will likely be lower than $TSLA FSD and tiered based on # products chosen by each OEM customer in the Alpamayo suite, consistent with how most auto options are priced today.
