🇺🇸🇮🇷 Here is what most people are missing about why this war is still going: Both sides think they can outlast the other, and until one of them changes that belief, no amount of talks in Pakistan will matter, not showing up to negotiate IS the negotiation. Iran's most immediate problem isn’t the bombs or the blockade… It’s Kharg Island, the center of Iran’s oil export industry. Iran has very limited storage capacity and analysts say it’s roughly 2 weeks before oil tanks start overflowing and wells have to be shut down. And here is the thing about shutting down oil wells: you cannot just flip them back on, once they close it takes significant time and money to restart them. Meaning every day without a deal has permanent, long-run consequences for Iran's economy. The U.S. meanwhile is apparently in no rush for kinetic action, because reports suggest half of U.S. Patriot and THAAD stocks are depleted, along with 30% of Tomahawks. Why waste missiles you can’t afford to use when the blockade is bleeding Iran dry for free? The side that blinks first here loses leverage, both sides know it, and the world economy sits trapped in the middle paying the price But watch Kharg Island… it’s central to how this conflict resolves.
