The West-East Pipeline would unify the national market, connecting cheap WA gas to the expensive eastern states. A 2017 feasibility study estimated construction would take two years and cost $5.8 billion, and reduce east coast gas prices by $3/GJ - a benefit of over $2 billion per year! That’s narrow peacetime benefits only, ignoring the project’s strategic value and national resilience. If coupled with a gas-to-liquids plant in South Australia, it would underpin true liquid fuel security for a nation increasingly aware of its dependence on maritime trade.

@M_I_K_E_68 Depends on your definition, immigration has been the primary driver of population growth since 2006 so you could make the arguement that if infrastructure hasn't kept up with population-growth then it has not been done correctly.

80% of jobs are not in the public sector that's impossible btw houses do not cost a million dollars everywhere that's a wild generalisation. Quality of life for me hasn't changed since COVID or even before it and a lot of people are the same you can't just say oh this happened as if you speak for everybody

How is that not a failing society? The trajectory is downward.
