I am delighted to share my first first-author and the first paper of the @gingerhowley lab published in Nature Communications this 20th of July. An 8000 years old genome reveals the Neolithic origin of the zoonosis Brucella melitensis : nature.com/articles/s4146… 🐑🦠

First prehistoric Brucella genome from a sheep allows us to time stamp the evolution of a zoonotic pathogen and shows the power of moving ancient pathogen research into the zooarcheological record. Great work led by @GingerHowley & @louis_l_hote
