The Catholic Church and innovation don't usually go together. Or do they? Father Mike Schmitz's ‘Bible in a Year’ podcast just hit one billion downloads. A Brazilian friar in a brown habit is the most-watched streamer in his country, beating every gamer and influencer. ‘The Chosen’ is available in 125 languages, which is nearly three times Netflix. And the Vatican just rolled out AI translation at St. Peter's.
It looks like the oldest startup in the world keeps shipping. The real lesson is obvious but we tend to forget it: Technology is a means… for everyone all the time.
Benedict XVI liked to tell this one: Napoleon promised to destroy the Church. A cardinal shrugged: "Your Majesty, we have not even managed to do that ourselves." After two millennia, still here, still adapting.
