@LifeAfloat Nick, you don't owe anyone anything. You are not a public broadcasting service. It's lovely to see your tweets and see how you're getting on, but if you need to take time away from twitter and immerse yourself in real life, you should, and people should understand that.

@muninnherself Absolutely! There is such great pleasure to be had from nurturing a tiny seed into a mature plant. Magic!

@foggiebee I was so excited when the acorns I planted grew. I know things *want* to grow but it's still a bit mad to have a baby tree in a pot in your garden.

Also extremely pleased with the oak saplings emerging from the acorns I planted in the autumn!

Beech nut update: sowed 100+ in early April (very late!) and 54 have appeared so far. Also potted up a few seedlings found around the garden. Fascinating seeing them emerge, shed the casing, unfurl, and develop true leaves.

Found loads of beech nuts in the last few days. Took a while to strip them all though! Stuck them in the fridge for sowing in early spring.

A little mindful lunchtime activity this week: collecting beech nuts. I've sown a few and am keeping the rest in the fridge to sow in the early spring.

I've been noticing an increasing frequency of mistakes and terrible grammar in @BBCNews articles, but this is a particularly astonishing example! bbc.co.uk/news/business-…
